26 Things I've Learned My Freshmen Year Of College

College is huge change, no matter how near or far to home you are. With this change comes many opportunities to learn things about yourself and the world around you. As my freshman year comes to a close, I'd like to share twenty-six things I've learned this year.

1. Change is inevitable.

2. You will miss out on big things, and little things.

3. You will value your home and the people that surround you there so much more.

4. To be kind to each and every person.

5. Surround yourself with down to earth people with typically positive outlook.

6. Call home, and call home often.

7. Don't forgot about grandma and grandpa. One simple call to say hello makes a world of a difference.

8. Take time for yourself.

9. Ask for help when you need it.

10. Try new things.

11. It's a time to find your passion.

12. ORGANIZATION is key.

13. Crying is okay.

14. Laughing is too, have fun.

15. Don't forget about God, He hasn't forgotten about you.

16. Life is precious, cherish it.

17. You never know another persons struggles.

18. Enjoy the everyday miracles.

19. Make miracles happen. (FTK all DM day).

20.Be proud of your accomplishments but remember to be humble.

21. You will lose old friendships, some will grow stronger, and new ones will be formed.

22. Learn to voice your opinion appropriately.

23. One failed test is not the end of the world.

24. Go to office hours. Your professors want to help you.

25. Apply for scholarships, as annoying as they can be the reward is definitely worth it.

26. Take full advantage of the services that your college offers.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
