No this is not the first bad day, and trust me I know it will not be the last. It is one of many bad days that I have had in just this one year. But guess what, I am OK.
So what my drink spilled on my computer, sending me into a whirlwind of Apple appointments, and listening to a nervous boy at the laptop station tell me they cannot fix it. So what I failed the test I studied seven hours for. So what I got cheated on and cried in my room while my best friend tried to find the words to convince me it would pass.
So what? Because if we did not have the bad days, how would we ever know what a good day felt like? You know, those days where you lay down at night, and you say to yourself, "how did I ever end up so fortunate to live the life I do?" Those days you question the human existence and could honestly care less how it happened, you are just thankful for that feeling of being so human right then? Those are the days that make the bad ones seem not so inescapable. Here are 26 reasons why I am OKnwith today being a bad day.
1. The fact that dogs yank their owners toward you just for the chance to meet you.
2. The fact that I have three amazing dogs waiting for me to come home for the holidays.
3. The feeling of walking outside to that first day that the temperature drops, and finally remembering what it felt like to want to wear scarves and booties.
4. Getting a math problem right without having to ask someone for help.
5. Seeing elderly people on dates.
6. Happening to wear a rain jacket on the day it actually rains.
7. Getting free Chick-fil-A coupons.
8. When your friends equally want queso as much as you do.
9. Finding the perfect balance of tea to sugar when you make sweet iced tea.
10. When people actually end up eating the food you made and no one has touched.
11. Seeing an ant make it across the sidewalk without being stepped on.
12. Giving gifts to other people and the face they make when you know it was something they have been wanting.
13. Seeing strangers pick up trash off the ground to throw it away.
14. Watching a homeless person tear up because they were given enough money to buy a meal other than fast food.
15. Finding a shirt or shorts that you love and it fits absolutely perfectly.
16. Small compliments from strangers or your friends.
17. Receiving texts, calls and Snapchats from your best high school friends who go to different schools.
18. The first sentences you write with that brand new pen.
19. When the Starbucks workers spell your name right, and you feel so accomplished.
20. When you know you had a bad day, so you let yourself binge on cookie dough without any regret.
21. Washing a T-Shirt and it does not shrink.
22. Climbing stairs and not feeling winded at the top.
23. Finding a song you cannot stop listening to, so much so you are tired of it in two days.
24. When you accidentally look at a stranger, and they smile at you, so you do not feel so awkward.
25. Looking through old pictures and remembering how much fun you have had.
26. Knowing that not every day is going to be as bad as today was.
Take it from me, the most negative person I know, when you start to appreciate these simple joys, the bad days will seem too insignificant to even mention or stress over.
