We all struggle with leaving the sunshine or our beds and returning to schoolwork and classes after a break. How many of these thoughts do you have when coming back to school?
1. You wonder what day it is.
2. You realize your vacation is ending soon.
3. You try to fit the most into the last couple days away from school.
4. You don’t feel like you have enough time to fit in everything you still want to do.
5. You wash all of the dirty laundry you have accumulated in the past week.
6. You pack up your suitcase. How did you fit everything in it when you came home?
7. You travel back to school and think about all of the wonderful times the past week has brought you.
8. You want to cry because it’s not 80 degrees like it was in Florida last week or under the covers of your childhood bed — wherever you went.
9. You try to locate all of your books and binders and maybe even your backpack because classes start tomorrow and you are SO not ready.
10. You check the syllabi to make sure you did all of the work that you were supposed to do for tomorrow’s classes.
11. You stay up an extra couple of hours doing the work you should’ve been doing when you chose to sleep until 1:00 yesterday.
12. You set that dreaded alarm for the first time in over a week and your heart sinks.
13. You wake up to an awful noise and realize it is your dreaded alarm.
14. Wait, do I have classes today? I can’t be back from spring break already. The denial stage.
15. You get out of bed as your eyes continue to burn from sleep deprivation and the tears of waking up so early.
16. You go through your morning routine upset that you aren’t sunbathing like you were a few days ago. If you went home, you go through your morning routine upset that you aren’t still sleeping.
17. You wonder if, and secretly hope that, people notice and comment on your slight tan.
18. You walk to class still half-asleep because your sleep schedule is severely messed up. Hopefully you make it to the correct class and on-time too!
19. You see your friends in what seems to be the first time in years.
20. You try to catch up with your friends but it’s really storytelling time for all things spring break. After all, it’s only been a week but it feels like much longer.
21. You try to take notes in class, but it feels like you’ve forgotten how to write.
22. You try to listen to the lecture, but the only thing you can focus on is last week.
23. You reminisce about the warm sunshine or you watching Netflix without an assignment on the screen. What a stress-free time that was!
24. You miss spring break tremendously already and it’s only the first day back.
25. You start to countdown the days until summer break starts. Summer break is a glorified spring break after all!
