I’m one of those girls who always says they’re going to go to the gym to workout, but actually just passes right by the rec center and goes straight to the dining hall. At one point in my life, I thought about making a list of horrible and frustrating things that I would rather do than spend an hour or more at the gym. It took a lot for me to actually get up out of bed and leave for the gym that dreaded first time that I went, but after that first day, I actually went for 2 (ish) weeks straight.

Based on the time I actually spent at the gym and the thoughts I collected while working out, here’s a list of things every girl who doesn’t go to the gym thinks when she actually DOES go to the gym:

1. Why are there so many mirrors EVERYWHERE?

2. Am I doing any of this right?

3. I want to use that machine but I don't want to look stupid.

4. If I passed out right now, would anyone actually care?

5. Is anyone else in excruciating pain right now?

6. There are so many cute boys here BUT I AM SWEATY!!

7. Ah, I get it! The mirrors are here for guys to obsessively FLEX AND LOOK AT THEMSELVES EVERY 5 MINUTES!!!

8. I should've just walked past the gym and went for coffee instead

9. Oh, so I'm supposed to clean the machines after I use them? WHERE’S THE RULE BOOK??

10. FOOD. WATER. ATMOSPHERE.

11. Who the heck makes the playlist for this place?

12. How has that person been RUNNING on the treadmill for the last 15 minutes?

13. Which one of these do-hickeys do I use to get a butt like that?

14. How do all of these girls afford so many pairs of athletic leggings?!?!

15. Is that guy checking me out or do we just keep making eye contact by accident? ;)

16. Sweat may look good on some people, but I definitely am not one of those people

17. Is that me? *sniffs armpits*

18. Maybe if I don't look at the clock, time will go faster.

19. My phone better not die bc there's no way I'm going to be able to get through this without music.

20. I haven't used this muscle for 5 years so maybe now's a good time to start doing that again

21. HOW THE HECK DOES THAT PERSON BEND THAT WAY???

22. All I want is a beach body, is that too much to ask for??

23. Hey, exercising is kind of relaxing!! *accidentally twists ankle*

24. Oh sh*t, I should've stretched before

25. Who am I kidding, I'm just here to buy a smoothie that they sell downstairs afterwards

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
