25 Things To Do This Summer

The semester is over and it's finally summer. You have a couple months off from school, so make the best of it. Here are a few ideas to get you started so you're not sitting around bored!

1. Go to the beach

Have a fun beach day and spend time outside soaking up the sun.

2. Have a bonfire

Unsplash

Having a bonfire is always fun. Don't forget to make s'mores!

3. Go camping

Unsplash

Camping can be fun and is also relatively inexpensive. It's like a mini-vacation.

4. Go to a concert

Unsplash

Look up concerts near you and grab some friends and go enjoy some music.

5. Go to the zoo

Unsplash

Check out a local zoo and relive your childhood days.

6. Go to a waterpark

Unsplash

Waterparks can be so much fun in the summer and an awesome way to spend a day.

7. Go to a festival

Unsplash

If you've never been to a festival, I highly recommend going to at least one! It can be a two-day festival or a weekend long camping festival-but both will be a great time.

8. Find a carnival

Something about carnivals is just so nostalgic.

9. Work out

Unsplash

Work out at home, at the gym, or go on a run.

10. Go to an amusement park

Unsplash

This can be a day trip or a weekend trip, but if you like rollercoasters, this one is for you.

11. Late night drive

Unsplash

Late at night when there's nothing to do, driving aimlessly and blasting music with friends can be such a good time. You never know what interesting places you'll find.

12. Work

Unsplash

Make money and save it up with a summer job. Some places have nice employee discounts too!

13. Take a mini road trip

Unsplash

Road trips with friends are such a good time. You tend to end up becoming closer with these friends when you basically live with them for a little while-even if it's in a car.

14. Plan a vacation

Unsplash

If you can go on a nice vacation this summer, do it. Explore a new place and relax.

15. Go swimming

Unsplash

Find a pool, beach, or even hot tub and enjoy the weather while you can.

16. Check out nearby cities

Unsplash

It could be a small town or a big city, but check out a new place you've never been to.

17. Meet up with college friends

Unsplash

Meeting up with college friends over the summer is great. You can catch up on everything, and you're able to hang out with people you thought you might not see for a couple months.

18. Visit family

Unsplash

Spend time with your family while you're home.

19. Go see a movie

Unsplash

Check out that new movie you've been dying to see.

20. Or go to a drive-in

Unsplash

Drive-ins are an even better version of movie theaters in the summer, and they're nostalgic too.

21. Catch a sunrise or sunset

Unsplash

Wake up early and find a nice place to watch a sunrise. There are some beautiful sunsets during the summer that you should take time to watch and just relax.

22. Go shopping

Unsplash

I'm sure you'll want to buy some new clothes over the summer. This one is a good idea to do on rainy days too.

23. Plan out your schedule

Unsplash

Plan out your schedule for summer or even for fall. Get ahead so you'll be more organized later.

24. Try a new sport or activity

Unsplash

Find a new sport or activity to try. You might find out you're actually good at it.

25. Play mini golf

Unsplash

Putt-putt can be a fun activity for families, friends, and couples.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
