25 Things To Do Instead Of Being Sad

Some days are just a gosh dang heartache, and it is important that you can see beyond those days, and occupy your mind and body with happier times. Here are 25 good things to do, instead of being sad.

1) Face Masks and Deep Breathing

2) Go work out late at night, empty gyms are the best!

3) Make popcorn and watch your favorite comedy

4) Clean your room, I mean deep clean. Dust, vacuum, wipe down your mirrors, the whole 9 yards!

5) After you are done cleaning, rearrange your room. It is a proven fact that moving your furniture around can brighten your life.

6) Paint your nails/toe nails, lay on your floor in silence while they dry. Don't think about anything but your nails drying. Clear your head.

7) Go walk around your local plant store. Smell every flower, enjoy every leaf, take deep deep breathes of the pure air.

8) Take your dog to the park and play, don't think about anything but that moment right there.

9) Go sit in a coffee shop and leave your phone in the car. Observe all of the people coming and going, realize that life is a roller coaster and the uphill battle is taking you to the best parts.

10) Go for a long drive and find a good view, then sit there for as long as you need. Don't think too much, just sit and soak in the views.

11) Take your younger siblings to the movies or out for ice cream, their presence can be healing.

12) Use some method of brain doodling in a journal, writing without reason, painting, drawing lines, etc. Just let your brain take over.

13) Read a book, it doesn't matter if you have read it before but let your mind get consumed by something other than real life.

14) Try resting your eyes, if you fall asleep that is fine, if not then just leave your eyes closed and try to turn your brain off. Maybe your sadness is stemming from exhaustion.

15) Bake something sweet. Savor the last little bit on the spoon, take some to your loved ones, decorate them with silly colored frosting. Just enjoy the small joy of baking some goodness.

16) Do a crossword or Sudoku puzzle to distract your mind for awhile.

17) Take a really hot shower, use your favorite body wash, and enjoy just letting the water run down your face with out paying any mind to life after your get out.

18) Plan a trip; give yourself something to look forward to!

19) Drink lots of water, take some vitamin D and take a few deep breaths. If you don't have a lot of time, sometimes your body just needs a little kick in the butt.

20) Sit in a steam room/sauna for as long as your need. Followed by a good nights sleep, this can cure just about anything.

21) Organize your dresser drawers. Get rid of clothes, jewelry, or old lotions that are just cluttering your life.

22) Go walk around downtown, even if you have no intent on buying anything, sometimes shopping and browsing can occupy time better than anything.

23) Call your grandparents, they always love to hear your voice, and hearing theirs might be all the reassurance you need to get through a crappy day.

24) Go to lunch with someone you have not talked to in quite some time, it would be good to catch up, and you need to occupy your time, so win win!

25) Wash your car, inside and out. Since this is probably something you use more than a lot of things in your life, giving it some TLC might make you feel better.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
