It's never too early to start working on your bucket list!

In April, I will be turning a quarter of a century. WOW! I definitely cannot believe it. It feels weird but it also feels the same. When turning 25, I feel like I should have accomplished a lot. So, back when I was 23, I created a list of 25 things to do before I turn 25. I have accomplished some but not all, so now I still have 5 months left until I turn 25. How many have you accomplished?

1. Watch every horror movie from that Rotten Tomatoes List.

I am behind the times with horror movies. Actually, I haven’t heard of some of these or I didn’t realize they counted for horror. It is totally acceptable to watch horror movies in the winter/spring, right?

2. Go to Universal Studios.

Universal Studios Orlando

Universal Studios; however, I will ride every single ride and do every single attraction they have! Anyone want to pay for it and come with me?

3. Go Skydiving.

It’s bad...but I didn’t realize you could skydive in Tuscaloosa. I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to, I just never thought Tuscaloosa would have that attraction. Maybe larger cities. But, if you think about it, Tuscaloosa isn’t small. Oops.

4. Go on a Ride Along.

I have always wanted to go for a ride along. I would rather do it with the Sheriff’s department because I know more deputies than the police department.

5. Watch the Sunrise and Sunset in one day.

This would require me to get up really early AND (at this time of year) to be outside at about 4-5ish. The second part isn’t so difficult; however, that first one… I like my sleep.

6. Blow Glass.

I know the owner of the place linked above and she gives classes that I can take. But, wouldn’t it be cool to give a gift of an ornament knowing that your breath made that?? Awesome thought.

7. ✔Get a passport.

I have done this! Whoop Whoop! I did this December of 2016 because, in January 2017, my church was ordering our plane tickets for our mission trip to the Dominican Republic in July 2017!

8. Determine my Ancestry.

I want to buy this so I can figure out if I really do have French and Irish in me. I mean, I have red hair-ish, but I have traced some of my ancestry back and couldn’t find any Irish. Also, it can tell you how your genetics determine if you will have certain health risks: Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, etc. It will also tell you if you are a carrier for certain diseases to see, as a woman, what I can pass to my future children.

9. Make an Origami Animal.

I cannot draw. I cannot paint. But, I can fold paper :) How hard can it be to fold paper? I’ll find out.

10. Learn to Play Chess.

This is one strategy game that I have never learned how to play. From watching Ron, Hermonie, and Harry play a form of Chess to watching Reid and Gideon play it; I think it is time for me to learn how to play it.

11. Learn 1 song on Piano and/or Guitar.

I took guitar lessons about 6 years ago… and I don’t remember a thing I learned. I own a guitar and my parents own a piano...I should be able to play an instrument that we own. (I can already play a tenor saxophone that we own…)

12. Buy something really nice for myself (no Cubic Zirconia)

I have always wanted to buy something really nice for myself. Yeah, it’s cool to get those expensive items as gifts; however, you always feel accomplished when you save money and pay for it yourself. It’s like you have finally reached “adulthood.”

13. Tip Someone $20

I don’t think I have ever eaten somewhere where $20 would be 20%...however, that doesn’t mean that I can’t do it just for the sake of the server attending to my needs.

14. Eat Calamari

Calamari… I am not scared to eat anything! I will try everything at least once. Let’s see if I like it.

15. Beat a Video Game

I love to play video games! Tomb Raider games have always been my personal favorite so that is why I included it here. I have this one on Xbox. So, I just need to get to playing.

16. Make a 3-pt shot

I am NOT athletic, by any means, whatsoever. Way back when I learned how to do this on a mission trip. But, I have since forgotten what the guy taught me.

17. Make some new friends that are not from High School

It is so hard to make friends once you are out of high school and college. The only people you really meet are at work.

18. ✔Adopt a pet.

Look at this cute baby!

We believe he is a full lab.

His name is Ruger.

This was April of this year!

Now, look at him. He is still a puppy but doesn’t look like a puppy anymore. Lol

19. Make something for myself

This could be art, food, music, anything! Something I can be proud of and enjoy. Do you have any ideas? (something easy, please!) (or hard… to be even more proud)

20. ✔ Get a Full-Time Job

This is officially official on November 13, 2017 :)

21. Do a Karaoke Bar

I used to have a karaoke machine when I was younger and I loved singing “Strawberry Wine.” :) Maybe that qualifies me to do it in public?

22. Zip-Lining!

This just sounds like fun to be soaring through a park or something when you are up so high you could touch the top of the trees!

23. Test drive a muscle car

I used to drive a 2002 Mustang... However, it would be nice to test drive a corvette or a charger. :)

24. Ride a mechanical bull

This might be awhile… I need to improve my leg strength so I can stay on at least a second...

25. See a D-Box Movie

So, my movie theater has the D-Box seats in one theater. But, they are more pricey than a regular movie. But, I really do want to experience a movie in a D-Box seat. Now to see what movies are coming out between now and April that would be good to experience in D-Box seating...

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
