25 Signs You Go To Baylor

I mean, who else can say they go to a University that was founded before the state itself?

Here are 25 signs you go to the best school in the nation.

1. You’ve tasted the tears of the gods otherwise known as Cowboy Coffee- and even if you haven’t, you know all is right with the world as long as there’s a flock of hipsters lingering outside of Common Grounds.

2. You're familiar with the walk to the BSB. Thus, you know that the walk to BSB at anytime of the year (15 degrees or 105 degrees) is a special kind of torture. I feel for you, science majors.

3. Good luck trying to actually work out in the SLC. However if you’re in the mood to people watch, there may not be a better place- I’m talking to you, girl in jeans on the elliptical.

4. You witness a longboard-bike accident on your way to class virtually everyday.

5. Have you ever seen fifty fraternity men dancing perfectly in sync to a musical number? Do you want to? Then SING is just for you.

6. Scruffs- whether it’s Piano Man or Karaoke Night, some of your most ridiculous memories occurred here.

7. You were the Big XII Football Champs in 2013. Sic’em.

8. You turned out the lights at Floyd Casey.

9. You’ve run the Baylor Line at least once and learned that proper footwear is essential. Thanks for nothing, cowboy boots.

10. There’s always at least one different picture of the new stadium on you Instagram feed.

11. You’ve never been so excited for tailgating football season. #sailgating #amiright

12. Dia: The one day our own university tells us we’re all going to hell.

13. You’ve seen people setting up proposals on your walk to class. Ring by Spring is all too real, people.

14. The fear of running into your CL after a night out.

15. You’ve taken better naps in chapel than you have in your own bed.

16. Good luck trying to find a diet coke, or any coke product for that matter, within a 10-mile radius of campus.

17. If you don’t have a picture on Judge Baylor’s lap, did you really go to Baylor?

18. The only thing you learn when you go tortilla tossing is to not waste 4 bucks on a bag of tortillas you’re literally going to throw away.

19. You’ve walked through the middle of campus secretly hating all of the people in Eno’s for studying the right way.

20. If Yik Yak says it, it must be true, right?

21. You know more about the dining hall staff than about what your roommate did last weekend.

22. Southwest Chicken Salad Wednesday. Does any more really need to be said?

23. You shed green and gold tears when you saw Isaiah Austin on stage during the draft

24. You’ll always have a special place in your heart liver for places like LaFa and Mi Tequila.

25. Even though some schools think they have the nation’s longest running Homecoming parade, you, The Smithsonian and I all know better. 105 years and counting!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
