1. Your most nerve-racking experience was going on a flagpole date.

Oh, and of course your friends helped you get dressed in a cute shirt, jean shorts and some trendy shoes!

2. You felt so cool when you had TGB.

3. You looked forward to your Teen summer trips since the first day of camp ... your first summer.

4. While on trips, you never knew what to get your Soph or Junior sister.

5. Every Friday you had to wear white for Shtiller. If it was raining you were always so curious if you could wear blue bottoms.

6. You claimed someone to be your swim buddy and Shtiller buddy for the entire summer.

7. To all the waiters and waitresses workgroup summer: I’m sorry

I mean I had staff though so …

8. To everyone who stopped going to camp, you are jealous with all the celebrities that came this past summer #fomo

9. During Arts & Crafts everyone fought over who was going to go to Cooking and if you went to Arts & Crafts you ALWAYS wanted to make beaded bracelets.

10. Designing clothes for the beginning and end of the summer ALWAYS caused so many problems.

11.You were always so curious what you’re stand up/sit down was going to be.

12. Teen dance was 100% the most stressful thing you had to do (especially if you are a bad dancer and everyone yelled at you @me).

13. When the no bikini or monokini rule was put in place and you had to replace all your bathing suits with cute tankinis (if that is possible) and one pieces.

14. When you were in lower camp and thought it was so cool to wear jean shorts and a cute top after shower hour.

15. Always trying to figure out when Macs and Olympics would be.

16. Finding out you were Mac or Olympic camper caption, Camper of the Week, COTY, Teen Leader, Specialist of the Year or Counselor of the Year made your summer.

When I got Olympic camper caption for the first time I cried …

17. Choosing an outfit for Macs and Olympics was the best part.

18. But practicing sitting up and sitting down in sync was the worst part.

19. As a camper, you were always so curious who was in your bunk and who your counselors were.

20. Mail was the best job (besides OFF) and when you were in charge of bringing the mail to the office in the morning you most likely forgot.

21. But you never forgot to pick up the mail after lunch because every single person would ask to get it with you.

22. As a counselor, you HAD to win the golden dustpan.

My bunk won overall cleanest bunk of the summer … just saying.

23. That feeling when you were finally able to go to Upper Camp Prom.

24. Sylvan Lake sunsets were and still are the prettiest thing and you have definitely Instagrammed at least one picture of it.

25. You knew after each other that your camp friends would be your best friends for life!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
