Little things to keep in mind between tears

25 Things to Remember for Finals Week
Niles North High School

Finals week is rough no matter who you are, where you go to school, or what you're studying. It's the most stressful time of the year, and it doesn't help that going home to sweet freedom is right around the corner. Here are some things to keep in mind while you're preparing for hell week.

1. It's just one week out of the semester.

2. You will survive. You will still wake up tomorrow morning.

3. It's okay to be nervous and stressed. It's not okay to ignore your mental health. Take care of yourself.

4. Get some sleep. You might not think you have time, but sleeping is crucial and you'll be able to take on more tasks after a good night's sleep

5. Drink lots of water. You'll retain information better, have more energy, and hate your life less if you're hydrated.

6. It's okay to fail. It's okay to mess up. It may mix up your plans, or put a damper on something you set your mind to, but everything in your future will work out the way it's supposed to.

7. EAT. Don't forget to eat. Lots of college students partake in activities during this week that suppress hunger, but you still need to fuel your body.

8. Take as many showers as you need. Stay clean and calm.

9. Your grade does not measure your intelligence or your worth as a person.

10. See your friends. Relieve some stress.

11. Call your parents to let them know you're alive. Their support will help you more than you think.

12. Wear comfy clothes when you study and take your exams. There's no need to look nice in the library at 1am or the exam room at 8am. Plus, if you wear the same type of outfit, you'll condition yourself to think about that subject matter in that outfit.

13. Snack while you study, and eat that snack right before the exam. Trust me on this. Assign a snack to each class you have.

14. It's okay to ask your professors for help at the end. This is when you'll need it.

15. This is not make or break. You may think it is, but, in reality, it's not.

16. You might be disappointed with your results, but that doesn't mean you're any less awesome, smart, or talented.

17. It's okay to cry, even in public. All of us are crying together. It's cool.

18. You'll get through this. In a few days, you'll be home curled up in bed without a care in the world. Focus on that.

19. The more finals you take, the better you'll get at handling them.

20. Make a study playlist to make you more excited about studying.

21. Break up your studying into intervals.

22. You're still loved. Random dogs on the street will still want you to pet them. Little kids will still look up to you. Your parents will still hug you.

23. Love yourself! You're awesome. You can do so many things that nobody else can. Nobody is better at being you than you.

24. Show your finals who's boss.

25. There's always going to be more difficult things than taking finals. You can handle those, and you can handle these too. Now go out there and kick some ass!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
