You may have forgotten the name of the song, but you never forget how it made you feel. Here's a list of various songs from the '00s that seem to have faded away from memory:
1. "I'm Like a Bird" -- Nelly Furtado
It wasn't long after Nelly Furtado's "I'm Like a Bird" was released that it became a karaoke favorite. The first song off her first album, many consider "I'm Like a Bird" to be Nelly Furtado's signature song. It's only when she dropped her smash hit "Promiscuous" in 2006 that her signature song became a thing of the past.
2."AM to PM" -- Christina Milian
If you're jammin' Christina Millian in 2015, it's probably to her well-known single "Dip It Low" instead of her 2001 club-banger "AM to PM." Millian was only 19 when her debut single was released and the catchy tune received a good deal of attention not only on the charts but also in the 2002 movie, The Hot Chick starring Rob Schneider.
3. "Just a Friend 2002" -- Mario
Okay, if you play Mario's "Just a Friend 2002" ridiculously often like a friend of mine does, you probably don't understand how anyone could forget such a "great" song. Well, even though it outperformed Biz Markie's 1989 version, the original "Just a Friend," is a known classic unlike "Just A Friend 2002." So while Mario definitely has the upper-hand with the ladies, his debut single is mostly stuck in the 00's.
4. "The Game of Love" -- Santana ft. Michelle Branch
Carlos Santana, one of the greatest guitarist of all time, has blessed us with numerous hits such as "Smooth" and "Maria Maria." With so many of his songs already added to your Spotify, it's easy to forget about "The Game of Love" featuring Michelle Branch. But that doesn't mean you weren't singing the hell out of it when it was first released!
5. "Milkshake" -- Kelis
You may have forgotten this song, but I doubt you have forgotten the lyrics. Because even if you weren't singing "Milkshake," someone around you was. This incredibly catchy song was hard to escape from as radio stations, adults, and their children kept it on repeat. It's not surprising that when it finally did die down, people were more than ready to forget about it.
6. "Ignition (Remix)" -- R. Kelly
Yes, I'm aware that many of you have NOT forgotten about R. Kelly's "Ignition (Remix)." But let's be real. Between all the "bumpin' and grindin'," steppin' in the name of love at weddings, reunions, etc., R. Kelly's countless legal issues, and the 33 chapters of the hip-hopera "Trapped in the Closet," you can forget about how often you and your friends used to jam out to this in the car.
7. "Unwritten" -- Natasha Bedingfield
Some of you may have been reunited with this song during the season 5 finale of "Pretty Little Liars," but some are just now being re-introduced to Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten". I've learned that a few of you may have learned this song with the rest of your elementary school class... and if that's the case, go ahead and break out the accompanying hand symbols and belt it out!
8. "Flap Your Wings" -- Nelly
"Flap Your Wings" or "Get Your Eagle On" to some, was a BANGER. Produced by The Neptunes, "Flap Your Wings" didn't do as well as Nelly's other singles, making it largely forgettable, but it still could make a club go nuts.
9. "Beautiful Soul" -- Jesse McCartney
If you grew up watching Disney Channel, you definitely know the lyrics to Jesse McCartney's "Beautiful Soul." That blonde hair and green eyes made McCartney tween eye-candy until he was replaced by whoever came next, leaving him and his song to the 00's.
10. "Pieces of Me" -- Ashlee Simpson
That impromptu jig Ashlee Simpson broke out into when she got caught lip-syncing "Pieces of Me" had us all feeling second-hand embarrassment. Because of that, we had no problem leaving her and this catchy pop-rock song in the 00's. It's been over ten years now, you can probably listen again without cringing.
11. "Pimpin' All Over The World" -- Ludacris ft. Bobby V
Ludacris' smooth rap single "Pimpin' All Over the World" featuring Bobby Valentino was well-received when it was released during the summer of 2005. Due to his other rap songs typically getting more shine, you're more likely to hear "Move Bitch!" than the Katt Williams commentary at the end of this song that used to have you crackin' up.
12. "Hollaback Girl" -- Gwen Stefani
You either loved Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl" or it annoyed the hell out of you. As the third single off her debut album, it lit up the majority of the charts it entered, thanks to the Neptunes beat and the incredibly simple lyrics. If you weren't singing along, the people who were probably drove you B-A-N-A-N-A-S!
13. "My Humps" -- The Black Eyed Peas
"My Humps" is commonly considered THE song of the 2000's. Its beat and simple lyrics got it compared often to Kelis' "Milkshake," since you too couldn't escape Fergie and her "humps." When you finally did, you probably left it in the 00's right next to "Milkshake" and "Hollaback Girl".
14. "Do It To It" -- Cherish
Cherish, a R&B hip-hop quartet, achieved major success with their single "Do It To It." The harmonizing "do it,do it, do it, do it" chorus was heard just about everywhere in early 2006 but almost ten years later, with this group of sisters being awfully quiet on the music front, "Do It To It" has become a distant memory.
15. "London Bridge" -- Fergie
Fergie's debut album The Dutchess was a worldwide success with her lead single "London Bridge" kicking it off. Described by Fergie as "kind of like a punch in the face to let people know I'm coming through...," Fergie continued on with her other major singles such as "Fergalicious," "Big Girls Don't Cry," and "Glamorous."
16. "Ice Box" -- Omarion
Best known as the lead singer of R&B boy band B2K, Omarion's solo single "Ice Box" may have slipped your mind. It features backing vocals from Timberland and is Omarion's most successful solo single to date.
17. "Everytime We Touch" -- Cascada
"Everytime We Touch" was the the perfect dance club song. Even though that pulsating beat could be found in a lot of dance songs, you just couldn't ignore the catchy and simple hook that you still remember to this day.
18. "Kiss Kiss" -- Chris Brown ft. T-Pain
Back when Chris Brown was known mostly for his energetic dance moves and music, "Kiss Kiss" was one of his many hits to top the charts. Its bouncy beat and T-Pain's signature auto-tune made it favorite among R&B lovers.
19. "Bubbly" -- Colbie Caillat
The warm vocals and happy feelings that came with Caillat's "Bubbly," made it her biggest hit to date. You couldn't help singing along in the shower, the car, or on that karaoke game.
20. "I Luv Your Girl" -- The-Dream ft. Young Jeezy
In between producing and co-writing classics for superstar artists (i.e. Beyonce's "Single Ladies" and Rihanna's "Umbrella"), The-Dream will drop his own hits such as his 2008 single, "I Luv Ur Girl."
21. "Chopped N Skrewed" -- T-Pain ft. Ludacris
T-Pain has had hits ON TOP of hits. During his peak, him and that auto-tune pitch was featured on more than 50 chart topping singles. I pulled out of that pile his 2008 single, "Chopped N Skrewed."
22. "Damaged" -- Danity Kane
From Diddy's third round of Making The Band, Danity Kane seemed to be destined for greatness.... until you remember that they were signed to Bad Boy Records (a.k.a You're lucky if you get a second album). If you look past their recent drama, you'll remember their great and catchy songs like "Damaged."
23. "Ice Cream Paint Job" -- Dorrough
If you're from the South, you're definitely being hit with old memories from Dorrough's "Ice Cream Paint Job." His "Yeah Buddy!" line was being rapped by everyone, including babies who could barely talk.
24. "Airplanes" -- B.o.B ft. Hayley Williams
The surprising collaboration of rapper B.o.B and Paramore's Hayley Williams produced the chart-topping single, "Airplanes." When this song was released, fans loved the duo together and led to a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
25. "Fireflies" -- Owl City
I personally have never met anyone that didn't like "Fireflies" by Owl City. It's just something about it that everyone seemed to love. You could compare it to Pharrell's "Happy." You hear it all the time until it gets to a point where you never want to hear it again. But just like we'll never forget the lyrics to "Happy", we can't shake the ones to "Fireflies" either.
