Because obviously I'm thinking about everything BUT the paper itself.

24 Thoughts While Writing A Paper

With final exams approaching, we college students are becoming swamped with assignments of all kinds. I think I can speak for all of us when I say staying focused can be quite the difficult task. There are so many distractions available to us while we do our homework that completing it all at one time becomes more challenging than we think. Here are 24 thoughts you may have while writing a paper:

1. I should probably stop procrastinating now.

2. Wait, how many pages does this have to be?

3. Double spaced for the win.

4. Honestly, the professor won’t even know if I go from size 12 to 12.5.

5. I wish it was acceptable to pick fun fonts.

6. Comic Sans is fun.

7. Okay, focus.

8. What even is a thesis statement?

9. Geez, I really wish I paid attention more in class.

10. This class should really be called Bullsh*t 101, because that’s all I’m really doing for this paper.

11. Maybe I should change the margins a bit. The professor won’t notice, right?

12. I will never understand how to properly cite in MLA format.

13. Once I finish a page I’ll reward myself with a few minutes of social media.

14. Alright, I got a paragraph done. Good enough.

15. *scrolls down Instagram*

16. Ooh, a food porn account. What should I make for dinner?

17. Focus.

18. Wow, one page complete. Look at me go!

19. Morale is low, but I can still do this without pulling an all-nighter.

20. At this point I’m just writing the same sentence over and over again using slightly different words. Thank you, thesaurus.

21. Conclusions are so awkward. I’m just repeating myself.

22. This whole works cited page is a disaster.

23. Not my best work, but I'd say it's definitely deserving of a B.

24. God help my GPA.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
