23 Things Having Siblings Taught Me
Cheri Martinson

I have two brothers and a sister. They are my best friends, not always by choice. The bond you have with your siblings is unlike any other. They are a blessing to have, and they teach you so many lessons. Some lessons are sweet and some are funny, here are 23 vital lessons growing up with siblings has taught me:

1. How to share

Whether you wanted to or not, this was still something you had to learn.

2.You are given siblings, but you grow into friends

3. Hiding leftovers is the only way to keep them

And even then, it’s a risk. Sometimes its better to eat it all in one sitting.

4. Don’t compare yourself to your siblings

You each have your own strengths and weaknesses, comparing won’t get you anywhere.

5. The good food will not last forever

Eat it and hide a stash for later.

6. There are no friends in competition

Whether it's board games, card games, or sports games, anything with a winner and the claws will come out!

7. Calling shotgun is important

But just to be safe...run to the front seat and lock the door!

8. You always have an ally

Even when you are wrong, a sibling will have your back.

9. Learning to wrestle is important

When you have brothers you have to be able to hold your own.

10. And speaking of brothers, they will be obnoxious

And they will never grow out of it, so you will learn to be obnoxious back.

11.You are never too old for a sister sleepover

12. Your sister will “borrow” your clothes

But you can “borrow" hers as well.

13. Be proud

And brag about your sibling’s successes.

14. Nicknames are essential to the relationship

15. You will have inside jokes

16. Laughter is great for bonding

17. Stand strong when they push you and push back

17. Explain yourself to them

Not because you have to, but because you want to.

19. Seeing your siblings cry will break your heart

20.You want the best for them

21.You will never find better friends

22.Take care of each other

23.Unconditional love is real, and so beautiful

Here's a 'thank you' to my siblings. I'm so glad I have you and that we can navigate life together.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
