23 Life Lessons As Told By... Me

So I've been thinking about the past 23 years of my life and how much I have learned throughout that time. I know, you have seen many of these. However, I feel that you get a new life lesson when you read a new list about life lessons. Here are my 23 Life Lessons I Have Learned Through My 23 Years Of Life:

1. Be genuine.

I know this is one of the corniest things you could hear but it is true. I understand how hard it is to fit in and try to be someone you're not. Trust me, it's a lot harder if you fake who you really are.

2. Be there for people and do it out of love.

I love when I have those friends who come to me when they know I need someone to lean on. I will do the same for anyone of my friends and anyone I don't know.

3. Remember people names and things about them.

This is a simple one to forget as we are all busy in life, but I promise, it will make any person's day. I enjoy my conversations with my customers at Walgreens because they remember things about me.

4. Smile more and laugh always.

Literally, it could make you live longer. I am just saying.

5. Do the things you love to do but take risks at the same time.

Still working on this one, but I think it is a life lesson that everyone needs to listen to.

6. Laugh at yourself once in awhile.

Embarrassing things will happen to you, but they happen to everyone else. Don't ever forget that!

7. Do what ever makes you happy and never allow others to stop you.

This one is simple to do, just do what ever makes you happy.

8. Never give on your dreams.

Your dreams are there for a reason. They are your passion and it pushes where you need to be in life.

9. Everything happens for a reason.

Cliché has it sounds it is true, you are in the place you are supposed to be in now.

10. Live by what you believe in.

Many people have different values, views, and perspectives of life; however, it does not mean you have to go against yours.

11. Understand that you are not invincible because you are not.

You are not and you will never be.

12. Live life as if you could die the next day.

This life lesson I think is a pretty straightforward one, I feel.

13. Always play hard but always work harder

I mean, never slack off in your job as everyone watches you and people know when you are doing a good job.

14. Mental Health is an important item in your life.

Take time for yourself and make sure that you are okay. Don't overload yourself.

15. Ask for help when you need it.

People do not expect you to be a superhuman... it's not possible.

16. Be selfish once in awhile.

It's okay to be selfish! People understand sometimes and they will give it to you.

17. Say no when you want too.

You can't say yes to everything, so start saying it when you can and learn how to.

18. Know who your real friends are.

The people who are your real friends will love you for you. They won't ask you to change or anything like that.

19. Listen to your friends and understand what they are trying to tell you.

Your friends do care enough to look out for you, even if you do not want to hear it.

20. Drink water.

Just saying, keep yourself hydrated.

21. Excercise.

You want to keep yourself healthy for awhile. Exercising can do that for a person.

22. Take sleep seriously.

Also, who doesn't like a good night sleep?

23. Have fun in life!

Trust me, you should have fun and not take life seriously all the time.

I hope you enjoy reading my life lessons!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
