23 Things I've Learned In 23 Years
Khadjiah Wynter

Looking back, I wish there was someone who could’ve bestowed upon me the wisdom I now know and hold dearly. Things I wish I knew or took seriously in my early teen years that I now hold close to my heart.

Here are a few things I’ve learned over the past 23 years of my life. I hope it helps you like it has helped me.

1. Your parents always know what’s best.

2. Your mother is always your best friend.

3. Always trust your gut feeling.

4. Love yourself first.

5. Your body is beautiful with every flaw.

6. It’s okay to cry every now and then.

7. Having time to yourself is always good.

8. Never apologize for thinking your health is more important than going out.

9. Everyone makes mistakes, but how you will move on from them is what is important.

10. Love hurts, but not as much as not loving someone.

11. Your job now doesn’t define you.

12. It’s okay not to go to college straight away.

13. The people who you are trying to fit in with now won’t matter in years to come.

14. Building yourself up comes before trying to build someone else up.

15. Make mistakes because from those will come your greatest accomplishments.

16. Find a passion or many passions that you enjoy.

17. Don’t compare yourself to others because you are unique and beautiful the way you are.

18. Don’t over work yourself trying to meet others expectations.

19. It’s okay to vent, but if you don’t like your situation, change it.

20. Change your mind and change it once again because life is full of lessons.

21. Don’t look down on others because they don’t have the things or drive that you do.

22. Never beat yourself up for your mistakes, learn from them.

23. Be kind to yourself because there is never another you in this world.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
