The green room is a special place in a theatre kid's heart.

The theatre is a universal safe space for so many artists around the world. As a theatre major, most of my time is spent in the theatre. When a theatre major needs a break, you'll probably find him or her in the green room. The green room has many functions, from being the room you wait in before your cue during a show or the room to relax in between theatre classes. I've met most of my closest friends in the theatre department by hanging out in the green room, so the green room at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette has a special place in my heart.

Because I spend so much time in the green room at ULL, I have heard so many things, between classes and during shows. Here are just a few of the many things I've heard throughout my first year at ULL.

Between classes:

1. "Do we have any coffee left?"

Can't. work. without. coffee.

2. "Whose *insert clothing item* is this? I'm taking it on Friday if no one claims it!"

The lost and found is a free for all on Friday afternoons, and college students love free things!

3. "Where's my blanket?"

The two blankets in the green room are constantly circulating, and we can never seem to find them.

4. "We got a keg of rootbeer."

Bless a fellow major for getting us a keg of rootbeer for a couple of hours.

5. "I think I can use these fluorescent lights from the green room in the show for the jail scene..."

The North Plan was an interesting show..

6. "I'm gonna die."

Probably. With 20 credit hours and 4 hours of rehearsal each day, it surely feels like it.

7. "I haven't learned my lines yet."

"I have a general idea.."

8. "All right, who drank my coke."

"I may have taken a few sips..."

9. "Someone please take out the trash."

With two garbage cans and a sign that says, "NO FOOD TRASH," it always seems like there's always food trash...

10. "Whose dishes are these?"

Why can't people just wash their damn dishes??

11. "Who left this food out? Can I have some?"

If it's on the table, it's shareable to all.

12. "Is she sleeping or dead?"

"She's been napping for a long time..."

13. "Don't ask; it's tech week."

Tech week: the most tiring, irritating, yet most fulfilling week of the year.

During Shows

1. Actor: *varied cursing*

Crew Member: Dude, your mic is still on!

Not again..

2. "I still haven't learned my lines."

Yep. Not even 'til the day of.

3. Assistant Stage Manager: "Is everyone ready?"

Everyone: "Nope"

Are we ever really ready to show our work?

4. "Where are the condoms for the blood pack??"

Again, The North Plan is a very interesting show.

5. "Who is turning the stage??"

When Act II requires the entire stage to be turned...

6. "Damn it, I forgot that line again?!"

It's always the same line!

7. "Where's my prop??"

Props masters are very important.

8. "I can't find my bra."

It's on you already; you just need sleep.

9. "Do you have your headset on? I've been calling you!"

"Whoops... I took it off for just a second!"

10. "And that's the show!"

That's a wrap!

The green room is one of my favorite places to be on ULL's campus. With all of my fabulous fellow theatre majors around, they always make my time in the theatre so much more important to me. The things I hear in the green room are close to my heart, and I love every moment I have in the green room.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
