22 Things (Thus Far) I Want To Accomplish In My Life

I'm twenty-one. And you know what? The other day I was thinking, "I need to do a lot of things, because time is running out". I know, I know. Sounds pretty intense and slightly negative for a person who is only twenty-one. It's not as if I'm a lonely, 40-year-old cat lady who has agoraphobia. I'm young, and I truly have the world in front of me for the taking. It's kind of a weird concept that it all goes by quite quickly. I'm in my twenties now, but in a blink of an eye, BOOM. I'm older, and everything has raced towards me in a simple whiplash.

So. This is when I got to thinking. And I thought about all the things that I wanted to do before I die. Some are really out there, but what can I say? I'm a dreamer - always have been, always will. There is nothing like a "pipe dream" that exists in my world, because anything is possible and I plan to make it just that. It's all about one day at a time, and accomplishing the smaller things first, before getting to the bigger, crucial ones. P.S. Some of these things seem "silly", but they're legitimately something that I want to do before it's too late.

1. Meet Michael Cera. (Oh, come on. Don't tell me you didn't see that one coming)
2. Go deep-sea diving, and even get up close to marine life.
3. Travel the entire world.

4. Save a homeless person.
5. Adopt a child when I'm older.
6. Learn how to speak Italian. (I've always like that language and found it beautiful)
7. Get something I wrote published.

8. Sleep on a beach. (Simple, but grand)
9. Climb a mountain.

10. Let someone know how much he/she means to you.
11. Not be afraid to let myself fall in love again/be vulnerable, and let that person in.
12. Perform a kind deed without expecting anything in return.
13. Fly in a hot air balloon.

14. Pursue my passion once and for all.
15. Be in a band. (And record an album with at least 5 original songs)
16. Walk to the top of the Eiffel Tower.

17. Confront someone about something that you've been holding back for years, and tell them how you really feel. (Any situation)
18. Have all of my college loans paid off. (Don't laugh at me!!)
19. Take salsa dance lessons.
20. Get back into tap dancing and perform a routine on stage in front of a lot of people.

21. Stand up for something I'm passionate about. (Gender equality...)
22. Help someone who has a learning disability.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
