22 Things I've Learned At 22 (Part 1)

1. You're going to lose friends.

Not everyone you meet in your life will stay in your life and you know what that's okay. It happens. I've learned that during the duration of our life we will come across countless of people, some will change our life in either a positive or negative way. I know that losing a friend may not be easy but sometimes it's the inevitable. As much as you try to make things work sometimes they aren't meant to be worked out in the first place and that's alright. There is nothing wrong with you, it's just life.

2. Stop comparing yourself to others.

You are not them, you are not her and you are not him, you are you and you are fabulous. Again I know that this is like human nature to compare ourselves to others but stop making it negative. Other people will be successful and it may seem that they are doing better in life but that's just at the moment. Your time will come and my darling when it does, you will find yourself ecstatic and just feel as if a huge boulder has been lifted from your shoulders. You are who you are for a reason, stop trying to find ways to change that. Accept it and learn how to embrace it.

3. Smile as much as you can.

"Of all your curves, your smile is my favorite" (I got this line from pickup-lines.net, yes it is an actual website with over 900 pick up lines, please spare yourself and don't go on the website) Smile it's your best feature :)

4. Don't live with regrets.

Living a life full of regrets will get you nowhere, all you can do it learn from it.

5. Take pictures. Lots and lots of them.

Don't do it for Snapchat, or to see how many likes you can get. Do it for yourself, do it for the times when you do have a rough morning and you are in dying need for a little pick me up, use that photo to reflect on that fond memory. Just because you don't post it on Instagram doesn't mean it never happened.

6. Put down the phone.

Stop and look around you. Everybody surrounding you is on at least on some type of electronic device. I am obsessed with my phone and it is with me at all times, but I wonder sometimes how would I be without my phone.

7. Be grateful.

Simple as that. Be thankful for what you have because it could be a lot worse.

8. Try something new.

With this being my senior year in college I have tried so many new things. Some were more fun than others but nevertheless, I was able to experience things I ended up enjoying! This year I had tried so many new recipes, some turned out to be very good and some not so much..........(hey my dog seemed to enjoy it but then again she eats anything...)

9. Go to concerts!!

I swear, seeing John Mayer live at Madison Square Garder was like love at first sight. BTW we are getting married and you are all invited <3!!

10/11 Read a book and buy the hardcopy.

Killing two birds with one stone. What can I say, I'm a little nerd and I love reading. If you know a good book recommendation please let me know ASAP. I enjoy reading and there are times when I become so invested in the story and into the characters lives. Always buy the book, the actual hardcopy, the one you can hold in your hands and turn the page with your fingers. None of this kindle s**t or amazon fire, no no NO. Go to your local bookstore and pick up a book and enjoy it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
