As a 22-year-old, I've been through quite a bit and these are a few of the things I've learned along the way. While I'm far from having everything figured out, what I've learned and experienced have helped shape me into the person I am. Some may be a little cliché but they still hold value. I still have so much to learn but these things will help guide me through all the experiences yet to come. Here's to living and learning.

1. Expect the unexpected, always

Sometimes things don't go according to plan, sometimes they happen even better (or it was meant to be a lesson).

2. Time does not measure loyalty

Friends you've had for a decade can be more toxic to you than someone you've been friends with for a few months, and some are meant to be temporary.

3. Forgiveness is more beneficial to your own being than to any person who hurt you

Resenting someone takes too much energy, do yourself a favor, forgive and move forward (with or without them).

4. It's OK not to be OK

Take time for yourself and heal.

6. Don't let anybody treat you like sh*t

Know how you deserve to be treated and put a stop to anyone treating you less than that.

7. Surround yourself with people who make you better

Having those who bring out the best in you is the greatest feeling.

8. BE PRESENT

Don't get too caught up in capturing the moment, live in that moment.

9. Spending money on experiences > spending money on materialistic things

Memories last a lifetime (but treat yourself too).

10. Don't let anyone tell you, you're "too confident"

If your confidence makes someone uncomfortable, you don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

11. Be appreciative

Be appreciative of your life and those who make you happy, and let them know!

12. Be more transparent about your feelings

Most of the time, people won't know how you feel unless you tell them.

13. It's OK to say no

You don't have to do anything you don't want to do.

14. Try new things

Apply to be a creator for the Odyssey, go vegetarian and go places you have never been.

15. Not everyone has good intentions

Speaks for itself, people don't have the same heart as you. Be cautious.

16. Think before you speak

Things you say can be hurtful to people, be considerate and think before you speak.

17. Stand up for what you believe in, always

Even if it means standing up against a member of your family or a manager.

18. Love yourself

Be kind to everyone, but especially yourself. Take care of yourself.

19. Wish people the best

Always wish the best for people, even if they're not your favorite.

20. It's OK to make mistakes

Accept that you're going to make mistakes, they make great lessons.

21. Know your limit

You can't take as many sake bombs as you think.

22. Question everything

Sometimes conspiracy theories turn out to be true after all.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
