Dear 21-year-old me,
Congrats! You made it, you finally are 21 years old! The year of consuming blue drinks of which you have zero clue what it consists of. The year of gaining 20 pounds from eating Taco Bell every night after Bags. The year of freely showing your ID to everyone regardless whoever it is, just to brag about your age. And the year to remember (or not remember ...) for the rest of your life.
Although I am happy for this milestone in your life, I will miss our frat late nights together. Even though we hated it while we were there, we always ended up back in the same spot the next weekend. I will miss our collection of shacker shirts and composite pictures from the fraternities. I will miss our stressing and freaking out over who where to go after every date dash.
This is the end of an era and the start of a new one. Here are some tips for you as I send you off to the bars.
1. Never say no to going to Maloney's on a Tuesday and make sure you ride the tire swing at the Wreck for me.
2. Bring 3 forms of ID with you at all times just to make sure you get in.
3. Tie your apartment key to a hair tie on your wrist so you know where it is at all times.
4. Take a Fishbowl sipping picture at Fuku.
5. Don't let any 40-year old T Loc flirt with you or buy you drinks.
6. Connect with people who you haven't talked to since freshman year.
7. Always tip the bartender, you have no idea how hard their job really is.
8. Try a new beer at Frog and Firkin.
9. Never question what is in an AMF.
10. Live this year with no regrets because this will be the time of your life!
Well, there you go. As I say goodbye, I remember all of the good times we had in our 20 years together and I will never forget them. I hope you have so much fun at the bars and I wish you and your liver luck during this year!
Have the time of your life when you are 21 because you only get this once! So drink up!
Love,
20-year-old me
P.S. Don't get frat FOMO ever, because bars are way better! Always remember that!
Cheers!
