Twenty-one is the age everyone strives to turn from the time they understand what 21-fun really means. But how the heck are you supposed to live it up on your big day? It can be overwhelming to try to maximize your 21st birthday (which, as we all know, only happens once). Here are 21 things to consider for some inspo on your special day!

1. Buy your first (legal) drink.

2. Rent a car (for your birthday bash, of course!)

3. Dance like nobody's watching...

Yes, it's a cliche, and yes, you can do this before you're 21. But what better excuse than your 21st birthday to dance your heart out?!

4. ...even if that ends with you on a table. Just go for it!

5. Go to a club.

6. Stop hiding all your empty bottles from your parents.

7. Buy a shot glass.

Even if you already have some, buy one to commemorate your new birth year.

8. Do a bar crawl.

9. Finally be able to take a shot at family gatherings with all the adults.

10. Go to the city and do something you haven't before.

11. Call yourself an official "adult"...

12. ...and yes, that means you should start adulting (sorry).

13. Drunk dial the 21st person in your contact list.

What could possibly go wrong?

14. Have someone take a body shot off of you.

15. Change your driver's license!

16. Write a letter to your 30-year-old self.

What will you be doing at 30? Or what do you think you'll be doing at 30? Write it in a letter and see where you are in 9 years!

17. Kiss a stranger.

18. Take 'being carded' like a champ.

19. Collect $21 from 21 people...

20. ...so you can go to the casino and gamble.

21. Make a toast!

Cheers! Live like you're the only one left in the world. Be you and

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
