Reaching this milestone has taught me so much.

As my birthday is approaching I often reflect on how turning 21 has made an impact on my life. Turning 21 was exciting to say the least, but I definitely feel like I have learned so much and much more to come when I turn 22.

1. Stop worrying about what other people think

This can really be your downfall in the end. I use to let other’s opinions control my whole life. Get out there and be you, don’t ever let anyone take that away from you.

2. Just say yes

Don’t let anything or anyone stop you from trying something new. Sometimes you get so use to saying no, that you really start to miss out on life. Get out there and explore new places, try new foods, and meet new people.

3. Sometimes it's okay to let go

Not every relationship is going to work out. Sometimes there comes a time when you just have to let go. It doesn’t mean you did something wrong, it just means you are closing a chapter and starting a new one.

4. Spend more time with your grandparents

This is pretty self explanatory. Spend as much time as you can with your grandparents, because you never know when will be the last.

5. Stop feeling guilty

Don't feel so guilty if you would rather sit in your room and watch Netflix than go out partying with your friends. Spending time alone doesn’t define you as a loner.

6. Get that extra topping

Don't ever let weight get to your head. At some point your body will change and that’s something we have very little control over. Do you really think that extra pizza topping is gonna be the end of the world. Live a little.

7. Do what makes you happy

Don’t stop yourself from doing something because it may upset someone else. Sometimes you have to be selfish and do things for yourself.

8. Best friends are for life

Don't take your friends for granted when you get into a serious relationship. In the end, your friends are always going to be there.

9. Forgive but never forget

I believe most people (not all) can be forgiven, but don't ever forget the damage that happened. People don't ever really change.

10. Don't go looking for love, let love find you

Stop worrying that you are going to be alone forever. Love will happen when least expected.

11. Life is more fun when you don't care

Stop worrying about everything and actually enjoy whats going on in the present.

12. Always budget

SAVE YOUR MONEY.

13. Nobody is perfect

No one is actually perfect and that is okay. We are all unique in our own way.

14. Single is actually the best

Being single is actually a lot of fun. You have less gifts to buy, more time for yourself, and just all around more freedom. Don't let anyone make you think being single makes you a loser.

15. Ask for help

You should never feel embarrassed to ask for help. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness, its a sign of strength.

16. Stop dwelling on the past

The past is in the past. You can't change what already happened, so why not move on?

17. Don't let jealousy control you

Stop comparing yourself to others. Don’t think someone is better than you because of the way they look or how successful they are. It’ll only drag you down in the end.

18. Parents always know best

Listen to your parents more. They always know whats best for you.

19. Move away

Distance is not always a bad thing. Sometimes branching off can benefit you.

20. Does fashion really matter?

It's great to dress in something that makes you feel good about yourself but does that brand really matter? No one is going to remember 10 years from now that you spent over $200 on shoes.

21. You are 21. Go celebrate

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
