21 Things I've Learned In 21 Years

As the countdown to my 21st birthday begins, I’ve started to reflect on the past 21 years of my life. Even though 21 is still young, I genuinely feel that I've learned a lot about myself and the world around me on my path to adulthood. I wanted to share with you all the little life lessons that I've come to realize throughout my life. The most important realization I've made is that life is way too short to not live every day like it's your last. Always appreciate every moment and never take anything for granted.

  1. Never stress the small stuff
  2. Always make sure to call your parents, wherever you are in the world.
  3. That cute guy hasn’t texted you back? Who cares, there are plenty of other cute guys to text.
  4. Never let anyone make you feel like you're not special.
  5. Don’t procrastinate, trust me you’ll regret it later.
  6. If someone walks out of your life, let them go.
  7. A true friend is one who will stay by your side when you find yourself in the emergency room.
  8. Treasure every moment spent with your family.
  9. Treat others the way you would want to be treated.
  10. Remember, day drinking isn’t a race. It’s a marathon.
  11. Start studying for that test a week before, sometimes two.
  12. Always take every good opportunity you get.
  13. You're not going to be good at everything and that’s okay.
  14. Not everyone is going to like you and that's okay.
  15. Never stop exploring.
  16. Try new foods.
  17. Be completely honest with yourself and others.
  18. Occasionally give yourself a break and go meditate.
  19. Guys will come and go from your life but your girlfriends will always have your back.
  20. The best friends are the ones who you can not talk to for months but when you see each other again it's like nothings changed.
  21. Always be yourself

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
