As my 21st birthday approaches, I have taken the time to ponder life lessons I have learned in 21 years. The following is a list of 21 life lessons.

1. The grass always seems greener on the other side, but that doesn't mean it is.

2. It is worth it to binge watch that series until three a.m., especially when you are on the series finale.

3. Cake is a breakfast food.

4. So is ice cream.

5. People can be unbelievably cruel.

6. But, they can also be incredibly kind.

7. There's nothing better than a rainy day inside with a book and a hot cup of coffee or tea.

8. Harry Potter is a classic.

9. Cats are the best pets (but dogs are good too!).

10. Starbucks coffee is a worthy investment, especially when it's pumpkin spice season!

11. You can never have too many books.

12. God is always with you, even when it doesn't seem like it.

13.There's a quote from Winnie the Pooh for every occasion.

14. You are never too old for Disney.

15. Puddles are meant to be jumped in.

16. Snowflakes are meant to be caught on your tongue.

17. High School will become just another memory.

18. WiFi is a want, not a need (even though it may feel like a need!).

19. Writing is a worthy pastime.

20. It is always a good time to read a book.

21. Friendships come and go, but they also form when you least expect them.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
