As The 2020 Presidential Race Kicks Off, Here Are The Names You Should Know

Senator Elizabeth Warren announced her intentions to run in 2020 on New Year's Eve. Warren is the first major Democrat to announce a bid for the White House. In a four-minute video posted on YouTube, Warren said, "the middle class is under attack." Warren traveled to Iowa this past weekend, which is the first state to kick off election season with its famous Iowa Caucus. Once a Harvard professor, turned U.S. Senator, Warren is sure to put up a fight for the Democratic nomination.

Some other names that have been thrown around include Beto O'Rourke, the Senate hopeful and former Congressman from Texas. He gave Ted Cruz a run for his money during the midterms, and many believe that he is the candidate that could win Texas and Arizona in a general election.

Julian Castro, another Texan, has also mulled intentions to run. He posted a video in which he said he would not give a final decision until January 12th. Castro is a former cabinet secretary for former President Obama and the former Mayor of San Antonio.

Senator Bernie Sanders is once again being mentioned. He ran against Hillary Clinton in the primaries and proved that he had a strong base of supporters. Many believed that he wouldn't even come close to winning the nomination back then, but he proved everyone wrong.

Another big name being brought up: Former Vice President Joe Biden. Biden leads almost every single poll among Democrats and he is seen as someone who really has the potential to beat Trump in general election.

A newcomer to the pack is Kamala Harris. Harris is a Senator from California and several think that if she doesn't win the nomination or doesn't run for the nomination, that she will end up on the ticket as a Vice Presidential nominee. After her fiery exchanges with then-Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh, she propelled herself into the national spotlight and is considered to be the candidate that can pull progressives and centrists together.

Kirsten Gillibrand, another Senator, might also run. The Senator from New York has thrust herself into the forefront of women's issues after she told then-Senator Al Franken, a fellow Democrat, to step down after allegations of sexual misconduct. She is also a major critic of the White House and has also called for the President himself to resign.

Within the next month or so, we should see several Democrats announce their intentions to run. It will be fun to see who will win the nomination out of what is likely to be 10 or more candidates. Similar to the Republican side in 2016, the Democrats want to take back the White House and are sending out several candidates to do that.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
