2017 was not a great year for anyone, at least we can recognize that, but 2018 is the perfect excuse to start fresh. This gives us the opportunity to create healthy and positive changes in our daily lives. Moods for 2018 are the behaviors and actions that we will take in order to achieve our new year's resolutions.

1. Curve people who don't want the best for you.

Get rid of people who only bring negativity to your life and drag you down from your good moods. This can be friends, significant others, or even family members. Bad influences are bad influences no matter where they can be found. Positive vibes only.

2. Treat yo' self.

Sometimes the only one that can get you out of a bad day is yourself. Figure out what makes YOU happy and splurge a bit. You deserve it after all the stress that comes with adulting.

3. Set goals for yourself.

Not resolutions, little mini goals throughout the year. It's so satisfying to achieve a plan, no matter how small, and that can bring serious enjoyment to each day. Maybe even make daily lists with everything you need to get done for the day.

4. Don't stress over things you can't change.

A common thing that everyone does is worry about things that never happen. The only thing we can do is prepare ourselves, but that does not mean to drive ourselves crazy thinking of all the possibilities of what could go wrong. Remain calm because everything will pass in time

5. Care about people.

There is no shortage of people who will need a boost, so taking the time to be selfless can change lives. Brighten someone's day and you'll see your own day shine a little brighter as well. It's the golden rule!

6. Create change, no matter how small.

Donate whatever you are able to, whether that means time or money, to a cause that is worthy. 2018 is your year, but that doesn't mean you can't share some of that positivity. Educate yourself about world issues; silence and isolation is a stance, so have an informed opinion on as much as possible.

7. Hope.

While it may be easy to lose faith in humanity or progress or even yourself, but there is strength in remaining hopeful for positive change, as this change does not come about through stagnancy and faithlessness.

8. Actually enjoy the little things.

When all seems lost and your hope is dwindling, it's crucial to be grateful for what we do have. Brighter days are ahead of us in 2018! Happy New Year to everyone!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
