11 Things I learned In 2016

2016 was a year of big change and loads of self-improvement. While reflecting on this past year, I have compiled the top ten things I have learned.

1. Do what makes you happy. Not everyone will be on your side no matter what choices you make, so do whatever it is that makes you happiest.

2. While it may take some getting used to, change is good.

3. Choose a major based on passion, not paychecks.

Unless paychecks are a top priority for you, then go ahead.

4. No one is perfect, so that #couplegoals or #womencrushwednesday isn't something to idolize.

In fact, I have learned those people tend to have the most problems themselves.

5. Pick your battles. Not every disagreement is worth your time.

6. Standing up for yourself, and telling the truth can be hard to do sometimes but worth it.

You will not only help yourself, but possibly help others too.

7. If someone gets upset about something you write, it is not always a bad thing.

If your words can create a deeper conversation, or make someone think about their own decisions, you should take pride in it.

8. Happy people don't try to bring you down.

A person content with their own life will be happy for you. They will want you to do whatever it is that makes you happy.

9. You shouldn't discuss politics on social media.

Atleast not aggressively.

10. If you are constantly questioning whether or not a person cares for you, don't waste your time.

If a person acts like they don't care, it is because they don't.

11. Moms are the best judge of character.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
