I get exactly a month off from school before the spring semester starts. With this in mind, I realize my vacation is almost halfway done. It's slipping through my fingers like grains of sand. Here's a breakdown of what my vacation has and will consist of for the past month and on.
1. The first stage of coming home for the holidays is settling into my home after months of being away. It feels just a little weird being back but I will never get over the sensation of sleeping in my bed the first night back.
3. Then comes spending time with old friends. Despite the constant communication with texting, we catch up on our lives and spoil ourselves with more food. It’s as if no time has passed when I meet up with these people.
4. I’ll be spending time with my family because I’m broke and it’s one of the few things in life I can do for free. Plus, I love my family… When they’re not asking about my love life or college.
6. Christmas will roll around and you’ll find me in one place. My bed. I am in a food coma from Christmas Eve dinner and entertaining the cousins I visited has tired me out. Furthermore, I have to prepare for the feast of Christmas night.
7. Christmas will also consist of “Hi, grandma! Merry Christmas! Yeah. I’m still in school. No, I won’t be a doctor nor have I met one but I’m still in school!”
8. Now until New Years is probably a blur. I can do a lot in seven days but my lack of motivation and dire need to get out of 2015 overpowers me.
9. New Years Eve will be spent wondering if I could magically find someone to kiss when the clock strikes down. But then I remember that I’m perfectly fine with a bottle of wine instead… Or is it champagne?
10. The New Year comes with new promises that I intend to keep or so I say every New Year. I hope 2016 will be different and I really do look forward to what the future holds.
