After celebrating my birthday, I realized that I am not ready for my 20's. Where did the time go? Just yesterday I was sitting in 7th-grade Calculus crying about Mrs. Conrath giving me an A- for the semester. Now I am 20 and would be more than lucky to receive at least a B in a course. Being two decades old has made me come to some realizations.
Here are 20 thoughts most people get when they turn 20:
1. High school was and is, long gone.
2. Only one more year till you're 21.
3. You have bills now, and lots of them.
4. All those years people asked you what you want to be when you grow up, you need to have a final answer now.
5. Bye-bye teen years, you're an actual adult now.
6. Grad school is right around the corner.
7. It's time to look for a big girl/boy job.
8. Your age goes from -teen to -ty real quickly.
9. Your childhood was over 10 years ago.
10. Soon, maybe even already, friends and family will start to ask you about when you're settling down.
11. You now think you're entitled to argue with your parents, respectfully.
12. You now have the sudden urge to travel the world
13. You are even more emotional than before.
14. Your license actually expires and now you get to take a new picture.
15. What's a credit score? You might want to look that up now.
16. You now realize your parents were right about everything all along.
17. You just finished two years of college, how?
18. Yes. You are getting old.
19. Two decades? Soon it will be five.
20. You have made it this far, and you still have a ways to go.
They say your 20's are supposed to be your reckless years. You have to see the world, make your mistake and shoot your shot. Otherwise, it is just another decade.
