The fact that it's open until 3 AM is a god-sent, especially after a concert at Shoreline

6)The Safeway parking lot

Enough said.

7)Hicks Rd.

Driving Hicks with your friends is just another regular pass time.

8) The Expressway becomes a racetrack after 11 P.M.

This is irrefutable . Don't even try to say Scrambles is better. It's not.

When you're just trying to figure out how someone's grandparent had the same teacher as them.

12) It's impossible to go anywhere without seeing someone you know

You could be halfway around the world and somehow you see someone from Almaden

13) "The Den"

As it's more fondly known.

14) Neighborhood Network is always a goldmine.

From learning about parental gossip to that one guy who is an absolute legend on their it's just great.

15) Some people try and tell you you're "not actually from Silicon Valley."

1) You're wrong. 2) You're wrong.

16) You reference where you live by which side of the Expressway you are on.

Are you on the Safeway or the PW side. (PW, may it rest in peace.)

17) Senior pranks are always sub-par.

To be honest seniors are just too done at that point.

18) The bubble

Growing up here is living in a bubble, and the sign they put in sealed that deal.

19) No matter what restaurant goes into the spot in Old Almaden Plaza, it's just not good

Mo's? Sonoma Chicken Coop? Just no.

20) Cops are a rare sighting

You're more likely to see someone's personally hired security guard than the police.

But in the end, despite all its quirks and flaws, you're proud to be able to call Almaden your home.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
