20 Things To Do Before I Turn 20

My way to document the time flying by.

20 Things To Do Before I Turn 20

It seems completely impossible to me that, in the summer of 2018, I will turn twenty years old. Most days, I still feel like I'm twelve years old going to my first concert. Or sixteen years old, just getting my driver's license. I don't even realize how fast time is moving along, and I've come up with a way to document the year.

With the upcoming discarding of my teenager status, I have decided to come up with twenty things I want to accomplish before the big 2-0. Some of these things I have accomplished in this year already, but some, I still need to work on, and I only have nine months to complete the list. I'm sharing the list to keep myself accountable in hopes to share the finished product in August.

The list is:

1. Visit five museums

2. Watch the sunrise

3. Go on a road trip with friends

4. Cook a complicated meal

5. Film a video for my YouTube

6. Try an exotic food

7. Visit a National Park

8. Learn how to tie a bow-tie

9. Visit 2 friends at their colleges

10. Travel to a new state

11. Completely unplug for 24 hours

12. Read 5 Books

13. Buy Starbucks for someone in line behind me

14. Sing karaoke

15. Go to a professional sporting event

16. Learn to play guitar

17. Finish a Netflix series

18. Study my family history

19. Keep a New Year’s resolution

20. Hike a mountain

These are things that I have never done because I either never made time or never thought I could accomplish it, so I never tried. Some of these a things I've promised to do like visiting friends at college that I want to make sure I get done.

Making this list I realize none of these actions will really matter down the road, but what will matter is all the amazing memories that come with doing them that I'm so very excited for.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
