There is no doubt that summer is one of the best seasons of the year. Beaches, family, old friends and real food can prove it. However, you always want what you don't have. Enjoy this silly list filled with #FirstWorldProblems that most Skyhawks will relate to in the summer.
1. Chicken Wrap Thursdays.
There may be better meals than a simple chicken wrap from the Commons. In fact, I know there are. But the simple thought of having another one the first Thursday I'm back makes me a little giddy inside.
2. The clock.
My eyes light up every time I see it. I miss it so much.
3. Friendly faces walking by.
In Boston you just get scowls and stressed out faces.
4. Always having the door opened for you.
Leave Stonehill's campus, and not everyone will hold the door for you. Some will even let it slam in your face. *GASP*
5. Having all meals included on a meal plan.
Out in the real world, there's no such thing as a pre-paid meal plan. Oh, the horror!
6. Back Bay Bagel
Goes without saying. I need Saturday and Sunday trips to Back Bay back in my life. Too good.
7. Mary Lou's.
Living close to Boston may have its perks, but that means the closest Mary Lou's is 35 minutes away. I can't imagine how people in other states live. That is definitely not fair.
8. Living with your best friends.
Living in the same hall or suite as your best friends certainly bonds you in a special way. At home, you actually have to make effort to see your friends, which at times can be hard. With work schedules, family events and more, seeing your friends in the summer isn't always easy.
9. Constant e-mails.
Just kidding.
10. Not having to deal with rides.
Living on a small campus is pretty great, especially because you're not at home having to constantly deal with rides. Everyone lives within a one-mile radius of each other, making everything extremely convenient.
11. Being able to walk to brunch in the morning.
Having to drive to brunch in the morning is aggravating, especially when you have to pay for it yourself. When you're used to living in the Sem with delicious pancakes and breakfast sandwiches being offered in the same building as you, there's nothing to do but recognize the struggle in the summer.
12. Having coffee included on a meal plan.
In the summer, you actually have to pay for coffee. I can't wait to go back to school where everything is included on my HillCard.
13. The unbelievable sunsets.
Of course, sunsets are pretty over a beach, but have seen it on Stonehill's campus?
14. Iced coffee from Ace's.
You don't realize how much work and studying these coffees got me through. I cannot wait to have one again.
15. The community.
From the Peer Mentor Team to the priests and the professors, there is always a reason to be in love with the loving community at Stonehill.
16. The campus.
There is not a day that goes by where I don't think about how much I miss our beautiful campus. Sure, there are beautiful places outside of Stonehill, but something about being in Easton makes me feel at ease.
17. Father John Denning.
From hanging out with Waka Flocka to saying "Hi" to everyone who he passes, there is no doubt we have one of the coolest college presidents. Have I mentioned he's a priest?
18. The Hill after a night out.
Nothing can beat mac n' cheese bites, curly fries and discussions of what occurred that night. I don't miss the walk home to the Sem, though.
19. Having constant wifi. Sometimes.
When you're used to always (or sometimes) being connected to wifi at school, you almost forget about the threatening texts from your dad about using up all the data in the family plan.
20. Last but not least, your friends.
There is something about missing your school friends that makes you want to be back as soon as possible. Yes, there are always your friends at home, but your friends at school have a special place in your heart. You can always visit them during the summer, but nothing beats being on campus with them again.
Til we meet again, Stonehill. Only one month, two weeks, and five days left! Psh, not like I'm counting.
