College can be the best, yet most stressful, years of a young adult's life. Between finding a major that's right for you, making friends that will feel more like family at times and surviving the next four (or five, six, seven ...) years until you get your diploma, it's hard to stay on track all the time. While we're trying to figure out who we are and want to become, there are times we can all say we've felt a little lost in the process. When that happens, here are a few things to tell yourself to get you back on track.
1. You can be anyone you want to be here.
2. Try new things and meet new people.
3. Don't be surprised if you meet some of your lifelong friends while you're here.
4. Have fun, but remember why you're in college.
5. Go to your 8 a.m. lab. Seriously, stop hitting the snooze button and actually go.
6. Give yourself a break, because you're doing the best you can.
7. It's OK to miss home sometimes.
8. It's OK to not miss home sometimes.
9. Stop being a grandma and go out with your friends.
10. You have an 8 a.m. final tomorrow, so get your ass in bed.
11. You're doing a lot better than you think you're doing.
12. Not getting a 4.0 doesn't mean you're never going to be successful.
13. Your roommate doesn't necessarily have to be your best friend, so if the relationship isn't there, don't force it.
14. What you're doing is worth it, even if sometimes you don't see it that way.
15. College is suppose to be hard; it means you're doing it right.
16. College is suppose to be fun; it means you're doing it right.
17. Beer and cheese ... it is not a sufficient breakfast.
18. You should really start being nicer to your liver, you kind of need it.
19. This is YOUR college experience. Don't let anyone take that away from you.
20. It's OK to not have your whole life figured out no one here actually does.
