I recently celebrated my 20th birthday. I had a great time with family and friends, but when someone said to me "Welcome to your 20's," I wanted to crawl in a hole. Something about being in your 20's is absolutely terrifying, and there are a few things that happen when you hit your 20th.
1. You have to accept the fact that you don't have your life together, even though society thinks you should.
2. But you have to try and get your life together.
3. You still can't legally drink and that's upsetting.
4. You still don't get treated like an adult.
5. You have a mid-college crisis because you are going to be a junior in the fall and can't accept that ..
6. Say goodbye to teenage years!
7. This means you are not allowed to blame your moodiness on being a "hormonal" teenager.
8. You are most likely going to get married and start a family in your 20's and that's terrifying.
9. Getting married means you maybe need to start being proactive about dating ... or even being able to successful hold a conversation with a boy.
10. The thought of having a real life adult job scares you.
11. These are supposed to be the best days of your life and all you do is binge-watch Gilmore Girls.
12. Halfway to 40 ...
13. Staying up past 11 every night just gets harder and harder.
14. You can't go to frat parties anymore because everyone there is a teenager.
15. In the next decade, you'll most likely have to be cut off from your parents and completely support yourself.
16. Your parents are probably encouraging you to save money for when they do cut you off ...
17. You should start figuring out what you want to do with the rest of your life.
18. People in the real world don't wear Norts and comfort colors everyday.
19. This upcoming summer will probably be the last summer you live at home.
20. You're basically having to take full responsibility of every aspect of your life soon ... so good luck!
With this said, still embrace every day because while being in your 20's can be terrifying, it's also exciting to see where your life takes you.
