There's no quote that I relate more to than, "you can sleep when you're dead." As a college student, it's natural for to be occupied with things like clubs, classes, homework, internships, but I've realized that this brings forth a lifestyle that not everyone can handle. In fact, being a busy person is a constant whirlwind of new adventures and networking that allows you to push yourself to your limits while simultaneously providing you with opportunities that other peers won't ever have.
These are a few struggles that any busy person can relate to.
1. The to-do lists are endless.
There's at least two lists floating around in your phone, bag, or office.
2. Trying to plan a time to hangout with your friends can be quite the task.
In fact, they know that they should probably ask you weeks in advance, even if it's something as small as getting dinner on a Friday night.
3. Constantly hearing things like, "WHY ARE YOU SO BUSY?!" "OMG I just don't know how you do it." "Are you even human tho?"
Don't hate the player, hate the game.
4. E-mails for days.
I don't think there's ever been a time where my inbox has reached less than 90 e-mails. In fact, I almost feel like once you send more e-mails than texts, you've officially become an official (struggling) adult.
5. Sometimes you forget to do things like eat.
In the midst of the madness that is your life, sometimes it's 9PM and you realize.. "I haven't eaten all day."
6. There is never enough time in a day.
You know that regardless of how hard you work, there will always be something that needs to be finished up tomorrow. However, this leads you to..
7. Being a boss at prioritizing.
Chances are you have what needs to get done down to which hour it needs to be accomplished in.
8. Knowing you should say no to a new opportunity, but saying yes anyways because you can handle it.
An internship, five classes, four clubs, executive positions, volunteering and you're asking me to do what?...Sure, why not.
9. Multi-tasking is a breeze.
In fact, you often feel like you should be able to list this on your resume. Your execution of being the host of an event while fixing a crisis, while planning another event next week, and sending out e-mail reminders for tomorrow's event is flawless.
10. What is a good night's rest?
Chances are you've figured out how little you can sleep to still be completely functional the next day.
11. It's hard to stop.
Going to bed at night is both so relieving and equally stressful. Your mind is flooded with things that need to be done still. Even when it's not bedtime, you find yourself constantly trying to work in situations where you're supposed to be "having fun." What do you mean I don't have to plan anything? What if someone has e-mailed me? I just have to make sure this was done.
12. Tired isn't really a feeling, it's more a state of being.
You literally walk around as a high functioning zombie that still manages to be peppy.
13. You have at least three ways to track all of the things you have going on.
Planner? Check. Google calendar? Check. Phone reminders? Check. White board calendar? Check. Desk calendar? Please.
14. Doing your best not to completely lose it when someone with an easy schedule tries to claim that their "too busy."
I've never felt more relatable to the incredible hulk than when I hear someone complain about how their 12 credit semester is too much to handle.
15. Not knowing how to handle free time.
Even though you're constantly counting down the days until your next break, you have absolutely no idea what to do with yourself with freetime. What do you mean I don't have to work? What am I supposed to do? Have fun?
16. Your packing skills are on point.
Because you're always running from one thing to another, your purse/backpack is stuffed with all the essentials for each event.
17. You're always prepared.
Regardless of whether someone cut their finger open, or something needs to be picked up in the next town over, you have the solution to any problem.
18. "I just need to make it through this day/week.."
You've mastered the art of giving yourself motivational pep talks. Most of them consist of you trying to convince yourself that life will be better next week. However, you know dang well that it'll just be another mountain of tasks to accomplish.
19. Last minute plans are literally your worst nightmare.
There's no way to make everyone in this situation happy. Sorry friends, I can make it to the movie three months from now.
20. Despite everything, you are more than happy to do all that you do.
In fact, you couldn't picture your life any other way.
