August is the hottest month of the summer. It's terrible. Even though we all get a break from school, summer sucks because it’s too hot! It’s always sunny and you get sweaty outside! All of the fall/winter people can relate to what I’m saying: we miss the colored trees, the foggy mornings, the sweaters. Why can’t we just skip summer? (Only the weather, I like my class-free schedule) In the meantime, we have to stick together through this season and all of the situations that ensue.

1. You step out of the house and instantly: “nope, nope, nope, nope.”

2. Realizing you won't be able to wear your sweaters for a long time.

3. If you like hot tea and coffee, it’s too hot for that.

4. When it first gets warmer and you realize you don’t have any warm weather clothes

5. When people ask you to go somewhere your first question is, "Do they have AC?"

6. Checking the weather multiple times a day.

7. Wanting to go for a walk, but deciding not to because it’s too hot.

8. If you have long hair, you better wear it up, unless you want a sweaty neck.

9. Taking sunscreen everywhere because you don’t wan to lose your paleness from the winter.

10.You spend time thinking about how much you wish you liked summer weather so you wouldn’t feel so shitty.

11. You keep a countdown for the first day of Autumn

12. You constantly gravitate towards the shade when on the streets.

13. Netflix becomes your best friend.

14. If you have summer classes, the hot weather is another reason to dread going to them.

15. Because it’s so hot, your body just gets tired quickly and you end up taking, like, 7,024,343,532 naps throughout the day.

16. You live in confusion about all the colors around you, since your sunglasses distort everything

17. When it’s so hot, you can’t even feel the difference if you wear a cardigan or not so you stop caring about everything

18. You look outside and it looks mildly warm, but once you get out there you realize it's so much warmer than you anticipated

19. It’s so hot you sleep with the window open, but suddenly have a spider and a mosquito as roommates.

20. Allergies. Just. Allergies.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
