If someone were to ask me to describe my hometown in a few words I might say: Small, full of rednecks, and has nothing to do! For many of you, that would be your answer. Growing up in Small Town, U.S.A has its perks but more than likely has far more disadvantages if you see it in the light of most millennials. Everywhere you go, you know someone! Going to church? Wal-mart? Or even the gas station, you know someone there! Small town people have a lot in common because more than likely we experience the same things. For me, moving to a city was a culture shock! However, you never forget your roots or the silly things we had to do growing up because you had to make your own fun! As the song by Jason Aldean goes, "You gotta make your own fun, when you're stuck in a place this slow."

Here are ways you know you grew up in a small town:

1. In high school, you could be found walking around at Wal-mart with your friends.

2. Your hangout places were either the high school parking lot or the Big Lot's parking lot.

3. When you drive past someone, they wave and you wave!

4. You drive by a field of cows every single day.

5. When you are out running errands, someone always asks, "How's your momma and the family?"

6. You CANNOT go anywhere without running into at least one person you know.

7. Friday night high school football games are the highlight of everyone's night.

8. If you were bored and wanted to hang out with your friends you went somewhere to eat.

9. You have to drive to another town to eat at different restaurants.

10. You live at least an hour or more away from a shopping mall.

11. There is no Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts anywhere.

12. Your main hobby in high school was driving around the back roads wasting gas with your buddies.

13. You know at least 1 person in the arrest records and 1 in the obituaries.

14. Everyone you know went to the closest university to your town.

15. People always say, "I can't wait to leave here!" But, they never really leave. Those who leave don't come back either.

16. You own a pair of cowboy boots and not the cheap ones either!

17. You have to name the closest big city to your hometown because people look at you with deer in headlights when you say where you're from.

18. Your best friend has most likely been your best friend since elementary school.

19. You always say, "There is nothing to do here!"

20. Lastly, people always ask how you drive on curvy roads?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
