Western Pennsylvania is an area unlike any other: a little country, a little suburban, and a lot of love. If you are one of the people who can call this area home, chances are that you can relate to and have experienced most of, if not all, the items on this list.

1. "Perkins Family Restaurant" is your go-to for breakfast with the family, or a late night snack with friends.

2. Heinz ketchup is essential at every meal.

3. You have survived bitter cold winters with a foot of snow at least once a year.

4. You also are pretty familiar with days where it is over 85 degrees out.

5. You know that even though it defies all science and all odds, those weather conditions can and will happen in the same week.

6. Friday night football games are the highlight of the week September-November.

7. And of course, Sunday afternoons and Monday nights are dedicated to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

8. Seeing someone riding a tractor down the middle of the road really does not faze you anymore.

9. Neither does seeing someone ride their tractor to school, work, etc.

10. You know the struggle of being caught behind an Amish buggy going down the road.

11. Potholes. Everywhere.

12. It isn't called "soda," it is called "pop."

13. You know what "yinz better worshin' your hands in the crick means." You may or may not use those words yourself.

14. You listen to, and enjoy, country music. It's catchy and relatable, what isn't there to like?!

15. You have been to a "Primantii Brothers" restaurant at least once in your life (isn't it great?!).

16. You have cows for neighbors.

17. Family and friends are very important to you.

18. You know everything about everyone in your town.

19. And even though there aren't a lot of people in your town/village, you love how tightly knit your community is.

20. No matter where you go,you know that good ol' Western Pennsylvania will always be your home.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
