20 Reasons Why You Wish You Went To Hogwarts
Anthony Tartaglia

Let's face it, going to school can get pretty boring after awhile. Doing the same old routine day after day really doesn't do it for some people and often times need to change it up a little bit. Sometimes we wish that we could just leave our reality and enter the world of some of our favorite movies and books. Without a doubt, no world is as cool as the Wizarding World in the Harry Potterfranchise. Within this reality, the most pretentious and iconic school is Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, aka the school every Harry Potter fan only dreams about going to. Why you ask? Well, you're in luck! I happen to be a current student here at Hogwarts as well as a proud Gryffindor House perfect to tell you all about it. Here are 20 reasons why:

20. Hogwarts Acceptance Letter

Got into the school of your dreams? Hogwarts definitely makes it known how excited they are to welcome you as a new student, even though they could go a little overboard sometimes.

19. Back to school shopping

What better place to get school supplies than Diagon Alley?! Diagon Alley has everything you need for your first day of school at Hogwarts, whether that be your robe, books, quills, apparel, and of course, your wand.

18. Hogwarts Express

There is absolutely no other form of school transportation that can compare to the Hogwarts Express. Right off Platform 9 3/4, this train comes equipped with the nicest staff whom always offers you some treats off the trolley. Just be careful of those chocolate frogs, they tend to have a mind of their own.

17. Magic

One of the best parts about this school? Magic, obviously, and it's everywhere! No matter where you look, magic is present and students are able to use magic within their stay at Hogwarts.

And if you ever seem to be having a rough day, no worries, talking to a wall actually can be a good thing. Yes! The portraits all over the castle walls move and communicate with students every single day. Just be careful, those things see everything, so nothing gets by them.

16. Dining

Let's face it. We could only dream of an empty table turning into a full blown feast in a matter of seconds for every course.

I think it's safe to say that you would never miss a meal ever again.

15. Moving Staircases

Don't feel like walking up a ton of stairs? No worries, these staircases move! But fair warning, don't hop on the wrong one. These things are always changing and you'll find yourself on a completely different path if you're not paying attention.

14. Ghosts

Scared of ghosts are you? Don't be! The ghosts at Hogwarts are so friendly!

Even though they love to play pranks on the students.

13. Pets Allowed on Campus

How awesome would it be to have your pets with you at school? Well at Hogwarts you can! At Hogwarts, you have the choice to of a few different options, either a cat, owl, rat, or toad. Choose wisely because this will be your companion for all your wizarding years at school.

12. Magical Creatures

Pets aren't the only animals you'll be in contact with during your stay at Hogwarts. Students have the opportunity to interact with magical and mystical creatures such as hippogriffs, unicorns, mermaids, centaurs, werewolves, and thestrals, but not all are as friendly as Buckbeak.

11. Exploring The Forbidden Forest

Okay so for all you rebels out there, yes, there are places to explore off the grounds of Hogwarts. But, the name forbidden is in the title of this mysterious forest. Still want to explore it? Good luck!

10. Spending Holidays in the Great Hall

Hogwarts definitely knows how to celebrate the holiday season. Each and every student enters the Great Hall and it's fully decked out from top to bottom with holiday decor.

Halloween is no joke. The school has jack-o-lanterns hanging from the ceiling, toad-holding choir performances, and an occasional troll in the dungeon.

Christmas becomes a winter wonderland with a beautiful snowfall and majestic Christmas trees that serve as the centerpiece of the entire room.

9. Amazing Professors

The professors at Hogwarts are seriously awesome. Not only are you learning and being taught by some of the wizarding world's most famous and renowned magical figures, but they are willing to risk their lives for their students in order to protect them. Now that's dedication.

8. Hogsmeade

One of the most popular hot spots for students when not in class would have to be a trip to the local village of Hogsmeade. You can often find students hanging out in the local pubs, cottages, and shops on the days they don't have class.

7. Classes

I think it's pretty self-explanatory how cool it must be to take a class at Hogwarts. From Levitation, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions, and Transfiguration, learning at this school is anything but boring.

Oh, and who could forget your very first flying lesson.

6. Hagrid

I think every school has that one staff member whom all the students love. Hagrid is that person. Through thick and thin, you know that Hagrid will always have your back...and save your life.

5. Secret Corridors

One of the coolest things about Hogwarts is exploring the castle and finding all sorts of secret passageways and corridors such as the Room of Requirement.

Just do us all a favor and don't open up the Chamber of Secrets. Been there, done that, so let's not try it again.

4. House Pride

Being a student at Hogwarts means having pride in your house, whether that be Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin. Regardless the house, each student puts their heart and soul into the family they share their house with.

3. Quidditch

Quidditch is Hogwarts #1 sport and you can find any student cheering on their favorite players at a game, rain or shine.

2. The House Cup

At the end of the year, the House Cup is awarded to the Hogwarts House with the most points, which is a huge accomplishment for those who win. #TeamGryffindor

1. Every day is a new adventure

No matter the day, there is always something to do or an adventure to find. With so many places to explore and new things to do, you will never find yourself bored at Hogwarts.

Overall, I think I can honestly say how much I love this school. From the amazing food to flying lessons, to the House Cup and epic Quidditch matches, Hogwarts is definitely the place that I call home. So for all you Harry Potter fans out there, look out for those Hogwarts acceptance letters and I'll be meeting you soon at Platform 9 3/4 for the start of our magical journey together into the wizarding world at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
