As an older sister, I honestly couldn’t be happier. I couldn’t imagine what my life would be like without my baby sister. Though she is 8 years younger, she is my best friend and for her I am so thankful. Aside from the many reasons she is a blessing to my life, if it weren’t for her, I never would have been persuaded to watch the series Supernatural. Let me tell you, my life just wouldn’t be the same.
Watching Supernatural, however, got me thinking about how much easier life could have been if I had only had an older brother on top of already having my fabulous little sister. My guess is much easier. Here are twenty reasons why I wish I had an older brother.
1. He would forge the trail for me in most aspects of life.
2. He would be someone I could always count on for protection.
3. If someone wanted to pick on me, he/she would have to go through my brother first.
4. His friends would also become my friends.
5. He would always offer incite about how the other half thinks.
6. Most importantly being relationship advice.
7. He would be the call I make before calling one of my parents.
8. He would give me brutal honesty when I needed it the most.
9. He would be a shoulder to cry on with a broken heart.
10. Also, he would already know what to say with some specific, totally deserving words about how sorry that guy is going to be.
11. He would answer most of the questions I didn’t want to ask my parents.
12. He would be my ride to class when I desperately needed it.
13. He would break-in my parents with all of his mistakes, making mine seem less significant (sorry, bro).
14. He would help me avoid certain teachers and would tell me teachers I absolutely needed to have.
15. Let’s be honest, all of the fighting that we would be doing would only help me better prepare for the real world.
16. But, without a doubt, we would never have a dull moment in our house.
17. He would be someone for me to annoy when I am bored.
18. He would be someone who I could demand come eat with me when everyone else was too busy.
19. And when he says no, he would be the one who I then guilt into coming to eat with me.
20. And when we grow up, his wife would be one of my best friends.
While I am beyond appreciative of my younger sister, with whom I am completely content, I cannot help but wonder what it would be like to have an older brother. So, here’s to you, all of the big brothers out there and all of their younger siblings. I am sure you are fulfilling your duties and making your younger siblings proud. As for me, I wouldn’t trade anything for being a big sister myself.
