20 Promises To My Sister

Having a sister is one of the biggest blessings in life. The bond you share is a combination of sister, friend, helping hand, honest listener -- the list goes on. There is no denying that becoming a sister changes your life, your daily routine, your thoughts and even your actions. We sisters can all agree -- we would not change that for the world.

My sister is the person I would go to the ends of the earth for, and because of that, I make new promises to her every day as we grow older.

I promise to...

1. Hold myself to a higher standard -- to be someone you are proud to call your sister.

2. Always tell you the truth, even if it means saying I hate those shoes with that outfit.

3. Listen. When no one else will hear you out, I will sit there and let you vent for hours.

4. Remind you that I love you daily.

5. Take your side when you are arguing with Mom and Dad.

6. Keep all your secrets from Mom and Dad.

7. Give you all of my t-shirts when they don't fit anymore.

8. Hurt any boy that hurts you.

9. Not take everything you say so seriously -- to laugh and cry with you.

10. Support all of your dreams and decisions you make.

11. Be a positive influence in your life.

12. Sacrifice anything for you.

13. Pray for you.

14. Pray with you.

15. Take as many pictures as possible with you.

16. Spend time with you because time flies.

17. Make dumb mistakes with you.

18. Love your friends like you loved mine -- and warn you about the friends I don't trust.

19. Be your biggest cheerleader.

20. Love you more than you could ever imagine.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
