1. Kindness Matters
It doesn't take much if anything at all to be kind. When one gives the simplest gesture of kindness, it has the potential to have an enormous impact on those around you and who the act was directed towards.
2. There's a difference between traveling and vacationing.
Traveling expands minds and done right, immerses you into a new culture and way of life. Traveling makes you more open minded and interesting.
3. Worrying doesn't change the outcome.
Circumstances are not changing because I am fearful of them. I need to take my own advice on this one. I have realized worrying creates stress and physical symptoms.
4. Books are the best teachers.
I have never been an avid reader and it wasn't until recently when I started to enjoy reading. Reading has the power to take your mind to places it's never been and expand your vocabulary.
5. Do the work
We all have a life and a future we envision we will own as we age. I have realized if I want something, I need to do the work to get it.
6. Complainers suck, don't be one.
Count your blessings not your problems. Life will become easier!
7. This is the only person you'll be your whole life.
Be confident, humble and awesome. Life is short and goes by far too quickly to be anything but the best version of you.
8. The world stops for none of us.
Keep calm and keep moving. Sometimes you just have to smile and keep on living.
9. Don't sacrifice the good times because you're busy worrying about the bad times.
You'll miss out on a lot and regret it later.
10. Relationships are the most important.
They are the ones who will answer your calls at any hour on any given day. The people who matter in our lives, always put them first. Before work, school, social media and any other pointless things on your agenda.
11. Tip.
Nothing annoys me more than someone assuming waiters and waitresses make tons of money and that justifies not tipping. These people have school to pay for and mouths to feed even if it's just themselves. If you can't tip (well) don't go out.
12. Do your best not to be in debt.
College is expensive whether you are paying tuition or not. Save money and be aware of how much you spend.
13. Socialization should never be underrated.
Friendships need attention and to be the happiest version of yourself, you need friends. I was recently reading an article on what regrets those who are dying had. Many mentioned letting their friendships fade. Don't be one of those.
14. Education is important but never allow it to interfere with living your life to the fullest.
Schooling is priority, I understand. However, we all need to remember we are humans who deserve a good time every once in awhile.
15. Don't graduate in 4 years? You'll be fine.
Your bank account might not be, but rest assure you will be a prominent member of society. You are by no means a loser or a failure. College is hard. It's about the finish line not how long it took you to get there.
16. Volunteer.
I coudln't say this enough. Volunteering will expand your heart and open your eyes to situations you never for once imagined existed. It's a free act of (hopefully) love that'll make you incredibly rich.
17. Learn to communicate.
We live in a world who hides behind phones and other people. It's important to have good communication, it opens the doors to new relationships as well confidence.
18. The things you take for granted other people are praying for.
To have lungs that allow you to breathe and limbs that allow you move are incredible blessing many only wish to have.
19. There is no point in caring about what other people are doing.
Living a life worried about what others think or how they may perceive us, is not living a good life. Instead, it creates a body that ultimately becomes a spineless spectator. What others are doing isn't all that important, I promise.
20. Tomorrow can be a good day, it's all how you make it.
I understand emotions and annoying drivers can easily interfere with our day... but, we shouldn't let those things have so much power and dictate the our entire day. After all, happier people live longer, right?
