Everyone comes into the music world differently. Through songs and through artists we visit different music worlds and lose ourselves within them.

Of course when I was younger, I was thoroughly involved in the Disney music world on behalf of watching endless movies day after day. The next musical world I was introduced to was country music. And it was done by a single artist.

Kenny Chesney came into the music business in 1996 and took the world by storm. He struck gold, platinum, and double platinum within 3 years of being in the business and hasn’t stopped since. Like most artists, Kenny was involved in music when he was young, being part of a college band while attending East Tennessee State. And like most aspiring country artists, he went to Nashville after graduation.

Kenny Chesney was the first country artist I was exposed to and was my gateway ticket into the country music world. I was singing “Young” and “How Forever Feels” before I could do long division.

Unlike a lot of country music on today’s radio, Kenny’s music had deeper meanings than beer, trucks, and country girls. Now, mind, Kenny does have a small handful of “mainstream” country songs such as “She Thinks My Tractors Sexy” and “Beer in Mexico.” But even these hits are above the beer and tractor hits circling today.

Here is a list of the Kenny Chesney songs that every country music fan should listen to:

1. "Back Where I Come From"

From his first album to go gold, this song is a simple one talking about however famous and "big-time" he gets, he remembers his roots and where home really is.

2. "How Forever Feels"

From Kenny's double platinum album "Everywhere We Go", this song is about a man who's lived an adventurous life, but realizes he's missing something, he wants to spend the rest of his life with someone special.

3. "Don't Happen Twice"

A song special featured on Kenny's first "Greatest Hits" album, this song focuses on two loves that drifted apart and came back together in the future and reminisce about the time they fell in love.

4. "Live Those Songs"

A song following a veteran who would love to relive the days and songs of mindless fun before the real world kicked in.

5. "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem"

A song for the overworked and the stressed. Get out of the office and get to the beach for some much deserved relaxation. Forget your problems for a little while.

6. "Anything But Mine"

One of my absolute favorite ones. This song centers around a summer romance, something many people can relate to. On top of it, it's about a romance that someone doesn't want to forget about because it was everything they've ever wanted. This song centers around the theme of "the one that got away"

7. "Keg in the Closet"

A song about the joys and wonders of college. Not really worrying about the real world and enjoying the short time you have to have fun because college doesn't last forever.

8. "I Go Back"

A song that reminds us that moments in our lives are strongly associated with songs and that when we hear that certain song, memories come flooding back.

9. "Summertime"

A song we listen to in the summer with the windows down and a song we listen to in the winter craving the hot weather and good times to come.

10. "Who'd You Be Today"

A song that reminds us of the ones we've lost along the way and that we still think of them.

11. "Demons"

Everyone has demons and they come in different shapes and sizes

12. "Just Not Today"

There are days where we have to act our age and get the job done, but then there are days where we need to cut loose and act a little wilder.

13. "Don't Blink"

A song that reminds us that life really is too short. Things will pass you by if you don't pay attention and time disappears in an instant.

14. "Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven"

Sometimes our decisions are determined on whether it will land us in "heaven" or "hell" and while we're trying to figure it out we're forgetting to live.

15. "The Good Stuff"

The world is so materialistic today, this song reminds us that "The Good Stuff" are the moments we share with each other.

16. "The Boys of Fall"

Football season is a huge deal in this country and this song is all about the feelings and setting of one of the greatest sports seasons known to man.

17. "Come Over"

A song talking about sometimes that one person you shouldn't be with and is wrong for you is the only person you can stand being around at moments.

18. "Reality"

Reality gets extremely hard to deal with sometimes and this song talks about our different escapes from it.

19. "Til' It's Gone"

Soak up every moment until it's over, not a second earlier.

20. "Noise"

Phones, computers, screens. It's our entire world now and we drown everything and everyone out.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
