Every father wants their very own daughter(s) to be prepared in life. Whether it's knowing the difference in screwdrivers or how to sand and stain an old table to save money. The 'Handy Dads' truly want us to live a life knowing the essentials that making living on our own a breeze. Personally growing up as a handy man's daughter, I have learned life lessons that you would never get in a classroom or on a standardized test. Assisting on jobs since I was 6 years old gave me an upper hand on the boys that would eventually come in to my life later on. Sometimes we take advantage of the resources or fathers gave us to eventually do simple tasks on our own with confidence. So cheers to having independence for all my fellow handy ladies out there, and here's to many more years of rocking the home improvements on our own. Here are several things that each daughter of a handy man will be able to do or have knowledge about;
1. Turing off the water in the situation of an overflowing toilet.
2. When hanging a picture make sure you hammer the nail in on a downward angle to avoid those studs!
3. Did you just realize you are low on windshield wiper fluid or oil? No problem, you know what to buy and where to put it!
4. Who needs the directions to put together a shelf? You can 'eye it' like dad does.
5. Are you suddenly ready for a change of color? You know to start with taping off trim, windows, and doorways. Do not forget you may need several coats!
6. Ladies, we all know that the drain gets clogged after a few months. Thank goodness we know how to "snake the drain."

12. When you get to go too Home Depot, Menards, ACE Hardware, and Lowe's: you know them inside and out.
13. Sundays are for getting up on the roof to clean the gutters and fix loose shingles, right?
14. Landscaping gives you excitement for all the possibilities you see with laying down new mulch.
