I am not the kind of girl who thinks that Everything is about me on my birthday, though I do think it should be a special day! So, here are 20 things that everyone secretly wishes for but would never dare ask for (without sounding like a total bday diva):
1. Lots of Facebook posts.
I know Facebook is so 2011, but you keep getting those birthday notifications for good reason!
2. Twitter shoutout.
Please post the less embarrassing pictures here.
3. Instagram shoutout.
With a nice paragraph about how I am fun and cool and you love me...or at least a witty caption, please.
4. Money from relatives.
Just being honest with this one.
5. Personal texts.
In addition to the social media post, not "in place of." A real friend does both.
6. A public announcement.
If you are across the dining hall, feel free to scream happy birthday so everyone within 100 ft knows and also wishes a happy birthday so I can pretend to be humble and embarrassed.
7. No class/homework/work.
Not really an option, but a girl can dream.
8. A call from your parents.
Because your mother has to remind you that she went through the pain of giving birth to you today and because your dad was told to call and wish you happy birthday (by your mom).
9. A call or card from grandparents.
Because you probably don't talk to them enough and they are the absolute cutest (also, refer to #4).
10. A surprise
Big or small, you want a little bit of a surprise because it's nice to know people who care extra about you!
11. Free drinks stuff.
Because today you are special and free is always nice. (The restaurants that serve free desserts are the bomb)
12. Midnight texts.
A true friend stays up till midnight even if they know there's a chance you might not be awake to read it.
13. Happy Birthday sung to them (at least once)

14. To feel pretty.
This ones on your own-- everyone knows you try to look cute on your own birthday just because.
15. Birthday treats.
A cake or cupcakes or a cookie cake, I don't care-- make it fun and stuff it in my face.
16. Everyone else to enjoy it too!
If we go to dinner for my birthday and you seem miserable about it, it will be no fun for all of us! I just want everyone to love each-other and be happy and excited because I Something that says "aww you get me, you really get me."
17. To feel loved.
Because isn't that what birthdays are about? Remembering that you are special, loved, and supported.
18. Wine.
You might want wine every day, but today you have something to celebrate...maybe even go for the champaign!
19. A birthday suit.
I mean a tiara and a sash or a button, get your mind out of the gutter.
20. A toast.
