The benefits of having a dog are endless, and if you're blessed enough to have more than one, then it's guaranteed that you'll have more laughter and fun in your life because of your furry friend. Maybe I'm biased towards dogs because I'm allergic to cats, but you can't deny the love that comes from our furry, always panting friends.
1. There's always someone to play with, no matter what.
2. Nobody gets more excited to see you after a long day, except maybe your mom.
3. You always have someone who'll listen to your ranting, and they'll never judge you.
4. The looks of gratitude you get when you're filling the water or food bowl are priceless.
5. Whether they tackle you to the floor and lick your face, or come up to you and start to lick your toes, there's no end to the sloppy kisses.
6. Cuddling with a big, warm dog on a rainy day is something that just can't be topped.
7. You'll always have an excuse to go into the pet aisle at the supermarket to look at cute toys you know they'll love.
8. No matter how old they get, they'll always be a puppy to you.
9. That look you get every year when you stuff them into another adorable holiday get-up.
10. The way they act around little kids and babies. Either they're scared stiff or they become another guardian for them.
11. They always forgive you when you accidentally step on their tail...again.
12. Someone is always waiting for you when you get home.
13. Nobody thinks of you more highly than a dog. You are their world.
14. Taking them on a walk and how happy they get when they see the leash.
15. They're happy to do anything, as long as it's with you.
16. It's not long before they do something funny. Laughter is always forthcoming.
17. They know when you've had a rough day.
18. Giving them a bath.
19. The way they always wake you up on the weekends.
20. They'll always be a part of the family.
So, I admit that some of these points are things that all pets do, since all animals become a part of our lives and make them ten times better. But you have to admit that there's no other animal whose tail has a mind of its own, and we can't help to love our furry friends, even when they get into mischief. They grow up fast, but unlike kids, they don't give you an attitude when they hit their teenage years. There's nothing truly like a dog, and we're all lucky to have had them in our lives for as long as we do, even after they're gone.
