Growing up as a competitive dancer means you have to be dedicated. As competition dancers, we're always busy rehearsing. Sometimes, it's hard to go out with friends or talk about certain things with people who don't dance. No one really understands why we go through so much just for dance! Here's a list of things only competition dancers can relate to!
1. Fake Eyelashes
Using fake eyelashes is a pain, but they're second nature to you now!
2. The Dream Duffel
The dream duffel bag saved your life at least once! How is it possible to lose something with one of these?!
3. Crunch time
The month before competition..AKA crunch time! This time of year is usually filled with long rehearsals and they're not always the most fun.
4. The countdown
The countdown before competition usually begins over a month before!
5. Pep rally
Pep rally is another highly anticipated part of competition season! It's basically like a rehearsal, but anyone can come to cheer you on and watch as you run through all of your dances!
6. The morning of competition
Waking up at six in the morning just to get to the competition two hours before you perform.
7. Staying home after competition
Having a late night competition was always a good excuse to ask for a day off from school the next day!
8. Eyelash glue that won't come off
My eyelash glue stays on for about 5 days!
9. You spend all of your after school hours at the studio
10. Naps
Naps before rehearsals are completely necessary for the whole team.
11. Losing your competition makeup
That sparkly lipstick you left at the last competition will never find it's way back to you.
12. Dancing at awards
They always end up playing the cupid shuffle.
13. You spend more time at the studio than at home...
14. The amazing feeling you get when you win
It feels so good to know all of your hard work paid off!
15. Your teammates have seen you at your best...
16. And your worst...
Either way, they love you just the same.
17. But no matter how much conditioning you have to do
18. No matter how much you get yelled at
and again it's a lot.
19. It is all worth it in the end.
Always.
