Come on... who's excited to shower without wearing flip-flops?

Why 1st Year College Students are More Thankful This Thanksgiving

Going off to college is a HUGE adjustment. Your whole life changes- your daily routine, your living arrangements and even the food you eat. There's a lot of getting used to and, as annoying as it might have been to live under the roof of our parents, we take for granted the little things we had when we did. Here are some reasons why first-year college students are more grateful than ever to be going home for Thanksgiving this year.

1. We can eat REAL food.

Not fast food at 2 a.m. Not dining hall food. Real, home-cooked meals.

2. We get to shower without wearing flip-flops.

3. We miss our families.

Our parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles... Even our annoying little siblings.

4. Let's not forget about our pets!

[rebelmouse-proxy-image https://media.rbl.ms/image?u=%2Ffiles%2F2016%2F11%2F18%2F6361508070687199421224034763_giphy-2.gif&ho=https%3A%2F%2Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net&s=61&h=0d235f230453f9b661d43915024bb1e81b3dc05e86a80c391de4a2a367941aa0&size=980x&c=2378288781 crop_info="%7B%22image%22%3A%20%22https%3A//media.rbl.ms/image%3Fu%3D%252Ffiles%252F2016%252F11%252F18%252F6361508070687199421224034763_giphy-2.gif%26ho%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net%26s%3D61%26h%3D0d235f230453f9b661d43915024bb1e81b3dc05e86a80c391de4a2a367941aa0%26size%3D980x%26c%3D2378288781%22%7D" expand=1]

Whoever made up the rule that pets aren't allowed in dorm rooms was seriously disturbed. No offense to fish, but they just aren't as warm, loving, or as cuddly as dogs.

5. We miss our friends from home.

As great and exciting as making a whole new group of friends is, sometimes we miss the friends we had back at home.

6. We get to sleep in our own beds!

[rebelmouse-proxy-image https://media.rbl.ms/image?u=%2Ffiles%2F2016%2F11%2F18%2F636150812291711293-1922944935_giphy-3.gif&ho=https%3A%2F%2Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net&s=175&h=a0b52e64fcf17b72e1cdcd52c13fb6013fa16c20a4deaa86084c3f0f33ec3901&size=980x&c=4117759714 crop_info="%7B%22image%22%3A%20%22https%3A//media.rbl.ms/image%3Fu%3D%252Ffiles%252F2016%252F11%252F18%252F636150812291711293-1922944935_giphy-3.gif%26ho%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net%26s%3D175%26h%3Da0b52e64fcf17b72e1cdcd52c13fb6013fa16c20a4deaa86084c3f0f33ec3901%26size%3D980x%26c%3D4117759714%22%7D" expand=1]

And chances are, we don't have to get a running start in order to get up onto those beds.

So with that being said, be more thankful than ever this Thanksgiving to be spending it surrounded by good food and people you love.

Happy Thanksgiving!

To Boldly Go Where No Man Has Gone Before...

One of the things that I love most is space. I am a HUGE space nerd. Literally ask any of my friends. I was first introduced to space when my dad dragged me to see Star Trek. Since walking out of that movie theater in 6th grade, becoming an astronaut hasn't been just some wild dream that could come true.
