11 Questions I Have Been Asked As A 19 Year Old Graduating With A Bachelor's Degree

Lots of people have opinions about my decision to graduate with my Bachelor's degree within 2 years of attending college, but how I feel about it is most important. So since no one has asked, here are MY thoughts on my decision.

You're supposed to be in the middle of your sophomore year, why are you graduating so early?

I finished my degree requirements pretty quickly, and I'm eager and ambitious about what I hope to accomplish. So, why not?

Do you really want to be applying to law school at 19 years old?

Yes, I do. I'm ambitious and I'm ready for what's next.

Have you thought about taking a gap year?

No, because then there's really no point to me graduating undergrad so early.

Are you sure you want to graduate this early?

Uhhh yes, I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't want to.

How do you feel now that you're almost at your last semester of undergrad?

Honestly, I'm kind of bored. I'm ready to be done. (I know, I haven't even been here for two years yet.)

Do you not have a lot of friends on campus?

Oh I do, most of my friends are also graduating this year. Even if they weren't, I wouldn't stay here any longer JUST to maintain relationships that I know I could still maintain after graduating.

Do you really want to adult?

Yes, I've been ready. I can't wait to serve a true purpose and accomplish something new.

I don't want to enter the real world yet, I'm not sure why you're in such a rush.

I'm not in a rush, I just happened to breeze through my degree pretty quickly. When you have goals, you don't necessarily feel like you're rushing. I feel ready and prepared to take the next step toward accomplishing my goals.

What don't you like about college?

Some people are in college because they want to make something of themselves, while a vast majority are in college just because they feel like that's what they're supposed to be doing. Going to law school will surround me with more people who have similar mindsets that I have, and I want to be around people who push me to do better.

Did you not enjoy your undergraduate experience?

Oh I enjoyed it for sure. I've made lots of lifelong friends and have learned a lot about myself and the world around me. I had my fun, but I'm ready for what's to come.

Are you sure you're not going to regret it? I think you might be making a mistake.

No, I am not going to regret it, I didn't just think this through lightly, this is what I want to do and I am sure of it. But thank you for your concern!

Despite the contradicting thoughts and external input from others, I am more than excited to be graduating this year. No, it isn't a mistake, and no, I won't regret it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
