19 Thoughts Loyola Students Have At Power Plant

It's Thursday night in Baltimore's college-town, and there's only one place to go.

To the average Baltimore-ian, Power Plant Live! is described as a “collection of bars, clubs and other businesses” located in the charming Inner Harbor. To your average college student in Baltimore, however, Power Plant (forget the Live! part) is the Thursday night destination. That being said, there's hundreds upon hundreds of thoughts and experiences to be had on your typical Thursday night at 'the Plant,' but here are some that everyone can relate to, as told by Loyola students:

Before leaving campus:

1.We have to leave sorta early, this is no casual trip to B-Lounge.

2.What if I get rejected? Should I bring two IDs?

3.Don't be pessimistic, we'll get in. Let's do this.

4. "I need to pregame harder, guys, Mosaic is going to empty my bank account by the end of the night."

5. Oh no, the Uber alone is going to cost a million bucks just to get there ... Whatever. Totally worth it.

6. "Wait, I have a Theology paper due tomorrow ... guys the Uber is here!"

Facing the bouncers/getting in:

7. I definitely should have brought multiple IDs. Does this even look enough like me?

8. "Game plan: if anyone gets rejected, wait it out and try again. Sit in the Subway or something."

9. Oh god, they know it's fake. He's laughing. Wait, I'm okay to go in?

10. This is legit. I am legit. Nothing will stop me. I am on fire.

Inside Power Plant:

11. "Guys. I have to get on that mechanical bull tonight."

12. "Let's use that bathroom—the nicest attendant ever is in there."

13. Why is literallyeveryone touching me right now? The amount of space in Mosaic compares to that of a can of sardines.

14. Can we walk outside for a second? I can't breathe.

15. "Can't. Hear. Anything."

16. Hold my hand, I'm headed to the bar but I don't want to lose you.

17. "I told you the bar was going to rob me of all my spending money tonight."

18. "This is the slowest night ever ... Oh god, we're going to have to fight for a cab."

And finally, after a long, sweaty night:

19. Wait, why are the lights on? Don't stop the music, you can't make me leave!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
